Talking I Am Waiting...from Destiny Rules doc

hey guys, I was watching the destiny rules documentary and and I really dig that "I Am Waiting" song. Stevie says "I am waiting, waiting for someone to come out of somewhere, you cant hold out, you cant hold out" Its a beautiful song. Did Lindsey write this? Obviously it was one of the songs that got cut. Bummer we'll not get to hear it.

Lindsey performed this song at his Soundstage performance, so you might get to hear it yet, just not with Stevie. It was quite beautiful.

This song is originally a Rolling Stones song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Yes, it is extremely beautiful, and I love what Stevie and Lindsey did with it. I wish I had a copy of them singing the whole song. That would be cool!

Wow...a Stones tune? I cant imagine a "beautiful" version of that song coming from the Stones. haha! I loved what I saw of it on the documentary. Stevie singing over Lindsey's vocal got me all emotional and stuff.

I agree. Their voices sounded lovely together on that song. I wish she had stayed around during the Soundstage performance to sing that with him too.

But I'm excited to see him sing it, regardless! I know he chose a couple Stones songs for GOS, it would be interesting to find out why he chose those particular songs.

[QUOTE=Lux]The Stones pull off 'sentimental' nowdays (imo). [QUOTE]

"Nowdays"?? "I Am Waiting" is on the Stones Aftermath album which came out in 1966.

Red face I Am Waiting?

Did any of the throwaways from Say You Will get released on CD? I'd love to have a CD with the other songs that got cut.

I really meant that Stevie and Lindsey's version was beautiful, but the Stones version is beautiful in their Stones-esque way.

I disagree, they can be sentimental, even in the past. What about songs like "As Tears Go By" which is on December's Children that was released in 1965 and Hot Rocks (1964 - 1971)? You can't get any more sentimental than that. Mick and Keith wrote it, and Marianne Faithfull sang it first in 1964. She made it famous, but the Stones version is quite sentimental as well. Also, their version that appears on December's Children and Hot Rocks (1964-1971) doesn't vary from her version very much in style and sound and not at all in lyrics.

Another example is "Angie" from Goats Head Soup which was released in 1973. I would definitely consider that song sentimental in style, lyrics, and sound.

There are probably more examples, but these are the two that I think show their sentimental side the best.

You should definitely check these two songs out, and see what you think.

Of course, this is just my humble, personal opinion.

And the "She's a Rainbow" song...( sorry about that but you know what I mean) I think that's not very sentimental but it is very sweet. And you have "Ruby Tuesday" which is a "nice" sounding song.

They did plenty of nice songs mixed with the rock.
