In his book Mick describes Robin as "a" voice terapist, beyond being Stevie's friend. I didn't find any source that confirms that she actually studied that, so it could be another Mick's "mistake". I read speech-language pathologist (SLP) is a very specialized profession. And I agree Stevie didn't get any better during tours.

Now, the supposed therapy may have been useless, or perhaps, it was a good one but since they were always so high, she wasn't even following the instructions. Just seeing how she screamed in Rhiannon suggests that.

Yeah it was silly. Robin was her friend and when a band or organization puts them on a payroll I suppose they need some sort of title. It was one big party train. Any real vocal coach would say stop smoking Kool Mild 100s and snorting so much cocaine and your voice will do better. But I doubt those were options.
One fascinating thing about Stevie is how she hired her friends for make up, back up singers, voice therapy, and hair back in the day.
Speaking of Mick's book did not Mick say Stevie called him up one day to chew him out how low he was paying the assistants and Stevie gave them all a couple hundred dollar raise.

I don't remember. Contrary to what you guys may believe, I haven't read the entire book in decades. But since I have the book in txt file (some ledgie shared it several years ago, can't remember who), every time someone mentions an episode that I remember is also in the book, I search for it in the file and share it to compare Mick's... "version". Just in case I reiterate that I don't blindly believe everything that's written there, but I find it fun to compare stories.

I looked for that payment episode and couldn't find it yet. Maybe it was in the second book.

No, its in the first book. Stevie calls Mick and calls him a cheap bastard and tells him that she gave all the assistants a raise. Sometime in the late 70s.

The second book would never have something like that in it. It was all fluff and an effort for him to make peace with himself for how bad he treated his wife, kids, Welch, Weston, and other band members.

Here we go, it was about a letter he received from Stevie:

She also wrote that she had started work on her first solo album. "Recording has begun, and Rhiannon is afoot." Then she told me she had moved to a small house by the beach and that I was a cheap bastard, so she was sending the girls in our of lice an extra $250. Stevie signed the note "Katherine DeLongpre," one of her many pseudonyms of the period.

I had completely forgotten that episode except for the word DeLongpre, peculiar name so it caught my attention. I remember in the early 2000s I visited a friend in LA and while driving around Sunset Blvd I saw this De Longpre Ave sign and I thought Oh, that's where she got that name from.

By the way, does that expression with the word "lice" mean something other than what I literally read? Doesn't make sense.

I cant remember what I had for lunch yesterday but remembered Stevie calling Mick a bastard for being so cheap in that book.

DeLongpre is a street name, here in Los Angeles. She got it from that street name. Which was also close to one of the studios, FM used.
