And Rolling Stone has shot it down, thankfully. I'd like to think it would take more than a birthday party to bring this lot back together!

Please just let it be over. ANYTHING beyond this point is just embarrassing.

That is a strange rumor. What makes it insulting is that Stevie who is worth over 100 million would reunite with a guitarist she fired from the band for making lots of money from a billionaire's birthday party. I am sure Mick would have been there in a second. But reuniting for a one time cash grab is even too low for Stevie.
BTW, I often relate Lindsey's fired like Michael Anthony's from Van Halen. There was no real reason just that Eddie was angry at something. I was watching an interview with Anthony and he speculated he made Eddie angry by appearing and doing a few gigs with Sammy Hagar on his tour. Van Halen was in hiatus with nothing going on so Michael went and played a few nights on the Sammy Hagar/David Lee Roth tour. He speculates that because he went on and did something when the band was on hiatus really bothered Eddie especially since it was with 2 former lead singers. So it definitely was like the Buck/Vie tour. Stevie was angry that Lindsey went on without her with a Mac project or duo project. Although Van Halen was more brutal. They stripped Michael Anthony of all royalties and edited him off their website.

This rumor will be a fun footnote in the band's history. It would have been a complete embarrassment for the band to reunite for someone like JK Rowling.

Given the beliefs of many of Stevie's fans, I don't think they would be pleased with her participating even if such a thing were to happen.

Right. I just read at The Independent page thru Yahoo Fleetwood Mac deny they’re reuniting to play at JK Rowling’s birthday party
Fleetwood Mac have firmly denied reports they are getting back together to play J.K. Rowling’s 60th birthday party. It had been claimed that the band, who have not played together since 2019, could reunite to play the Harry Potter author’s two-day, James Bond-themed party in November. However, in a statement to Rolling Stone a representative said: “This is categorically false. It’s not in the realm of true.” When I read the headline I wonder who denied it. A band member? Then when I read the article I wonder Does the band still exist in some form? I guess so, but only for purposes of profit allocation, business, etc. And who could be the representative? Who does he report to directly? Article
