It's interesting that the newspaper lists Stevie's contributions as vocals, guitar, and percussion. To my understanding, she didn't play guitar with the band in any capacity other than a rehearsal during the Rumours Tour when she attempted to play the acoustic guitar part on "Go Your Own Way". I'm curious if there were plans for her to play guitar onstage, but this never panned out. Alternatively, this could simply be a mistake from the publication.

I could be wrong but I believe she did strum some guitar on the early tour and I believe there are photos. Of course it was mostly fluff but it gave them the idea that maybe, just maybe she could handle the acoustic part of GYOW which did not work out.

I never read about her playing guitar in shows. But after reading these posts, I found this pic; the Pinterest legend says A rare photo of Stevie playing the guitar onstage.



How accurate is that statement, or when and where was taken, I don't know.
Maybe I'm wrong, but to qualify them as "contributions" would imply more important, frequent role. I would say they were more kind of spontaneous moments. Even if they were planned, they were like when John sang Say You Love me in 1997.

I play both guitar and keyboards, and let me tell you, guitar is more difficult!

So..... imagine her guitar playing, after we've heard her keyboard playing.

Growing up there were all sort of photos of her playing acoustic guitar on stage before the tambourine took over.
Consult Mick's book because something tells me something was in one of his books about finding her something to do on stage. It was not until rehearsing for the Rumours tour that you would never see an acoustic guitar in her hands again

I didn't find anything about her playing guitar on stage in Mick's first book, but I did find about some reviews the band got during that first tour.

And so we labored, through that whole autumn, pushing our record in every college town in America. Or so it seemed. There were some pretty rough times for the whole band, but Stevie Nicks especially went through a period of anxiety and self-doubt after getting some pretty heavy negative reviews. This was a new band to the critics as well, and we were consequently reviewed as if we were unknown. Rolling Stone said that Stevie's singing was "callow," and many reviews said something like ". . . the raucous voice of Stevie Nicks and the golden-throated Christine McVie, who's the only good thing this band has left."

Imagine if critics had commented on her playing guitar on stage.

My hunch is that is why she picked up the guitar. People were confused who is this woman at the center of the stage. Having a guitar under her arm made her appear more purposeful and it would have been her anxiety blanket.
But calm down, it would not be long that she could play the hell out of that tambourine off beat better than anyone.

He sang on that song for the whole tour though, every time they did that song. i don't think stevie ever played a guitar onstage more than a few times..?
