"I'm not Bob Dylan, but every once in a while I've gotta say something."

Thanks R.

I remember this article coming out. What I noticed is no new band photos and the photo for each member comes from an older shoot or tour.

I remember being shocked at how dismissive Lindsey seemed about the prospect of continuing with FM, and that worried me. By 1987 I’d figured out he was key to the band’s sound and that his energy would buoy them in concert. I also was counting on this album returning the band to a certain momentum, where every two years they put out an album, so I was neither pleased nor surprised when a few months later I heard on the radio that he quit and was replaced. It crushed me.

Yes, I remember it the same way. There was no internet and we had to rely on “print coverage” for any updates. I remember looking for any information I could possibly find on the status of the band. Stevie’s interviews always stating “ I won’t leave my band” during her solo explosion from 1981-1983 kept the hope up but little did I know it was Lindsey that always had one foot out the door. Thrilled for Mirage….Surprised with Tango because of the pre press… was ..Where is Stevie? …and then Lindsey leave as the band.

I enjoyed this because I never saw this article before. Its so revealing because its right before Lindsey leaves. You can read between the lines that Lindsey is not happy. He says "Stevie had her problems without being judgmental" LMAO
She was hard to pin down. She felt she had to go to Australia for some reason LMAO

I was thrown for a loop when I saw Lindsey at the Long Beach Sports Arena in August 1986. He plugged the album — said it was the best thing the band had ever done and that it helped to heal the band (that was the word he used).

But then I wondered why Mick, who was there playing his conga drum during Stevie’s set, didn’t appear with Lindsey, too. Even the fact that Stevie and Lindsey did individual sets was weird. They were finishing an album, so why didn’t the three of them decide to do a group set instead of separate sets? And why couldn’t Chris and John come out and play at a Los Angeles benefit, where they both lived? Weird, weird, weird. If I reach back into memory, I recall just how off-kilter everything seemed, even without the internet communication channel. The vibe around the band was of troubled times ahead. The band members felt really disconnected from one another.
