I never heard it had a hot tub.

But it sounds like what is being sold might not really have any connection to FM? They make a reference to its "current location on North Sycamore Avenue in Los Angeles" like the studio FM recorded in stopped being the Record Plant a long time ago.

And then I wonder if the assets being sold include any of the old equipment they even used or if that stuff was replaced with newer stuff a long time ago.

I was wondering that too..... Tusk was recorded in 79.... after Studio D was done up to their specifications..

It says the studio changed location in what 1985??

Now, we had footage of BuckVie getting recorded in the same studio, with them commenting on how familiar it felt and all that....so..... was it in both locations, or did it get moved entirely in 1985, in which case, did they somehow rebuild the rooms the same?? Things like the control room and the stained glass and all that was visible in the BV "making of" video....and stories were in the press of how it was deja vu with FM in the same studio again.... so I'm confused

Are we talking The Record Plant in Sausalito, which has changed hands many times over the years? Or, The Village Recorder in LA, at 1616 Butler Ave?

The Record Plant had several studios. One in Los Angeles and another in Sausalito. The Sausalito location (where large parts of Rumours was recorded) was sold and is still an active studio today, I follow it on instagram. It appears that the Los Angeles location was sold and closed.

Tusk was recorded at The Village Recorder Studios and is also still active. BuckVie was also recorded here. The large hall there was also used for the 2013 Fleetwood Mac press interviews, it was a Masonic Hall in the 1920s:

The Sausalito location is now 2200 Studios:

Glad to know it survived. I remember the rumor few years ago, about it was going to be demolished.

It was purchased by Ken Caillat a few years back. It's unclear to me if he's the behind the scenes owner of 2200 Studios or if he sold it to whoever is running it as 2200 Studios.

Thread from 2020 about the purchase:
