It's my favorite Christine song from Tango. Closely followed by Isn't it Midnight.
And I agree about Tango, it's a great album. So sad Lindsey left them after agreed a short tour. It would have been a great tour. We missed the chance to see the Tango song live.

Thanks for posting this. There can never be enough praise for Christine, and it's wonderful that 'Everywhere' has become so beloved.
One of the reasons for this is the gorgeous arrangement, of course, and 'that extraordinary, tinkling keyboard part', as the article puts it, which was actually Lindsey's extraordinary, tinkling guitar part, played at a slow speed and then sped up. I think that's why it's so beguiling, because it manages to sound simultaneously organic, and like it couldn't have been played by human hands. |

Christine had a knack for writing beautiful and timeless tunes, it’s true. Thanks for posting this.

It's a well-written article though. I had never heard of "folderol" before. I was wondering if she was referring to some sort of drug but in context, that made no sense. It's "trivial or nonsensical fuss" apparently. So now I know... I had not heard this acoustic cover until today. Maybe it's one for a funeral https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH9LAgMjvR0

Such a great article to read. Thanks for posting for us Mr Scarrott.
As much as I adore the song though….is this praise just a tiny bit over the top? IDK???!!!???

Watching those 3 in the picture article, it makes me remind what Stevie said when they were about to enter the stage at a stadium. "This is weird. We all look like we're going to a different place."
In this case not only the clothes but the gestures are so different. ![]() ![]()

Little Lies to me feels more like an encapsulation of the 80s to me. Like Everywhere there's a hell of a lot of emotion efficiently packed into three minutes or so. It was always being played at university when it was first released. "Oh, so that's Fleetwood Mac?" I remember thinking being dimly and confusedly aware of Albatross. It took me a while to figure things out...

Fun and persuasive article.
One thing it implies but doesn’t outright mention is that “Everywhere” is a great tune even without the ingenious arrangement. I have always adored the 1:30 demo where all of the rich simplicity of the song is laid bare. |

“Hold Me” and “Little Lies” are more obvious points of comparison to the top 80s pop tunes… |
