History is being re-written or needs to be corrected.
For decades Christine and other members of the band have stated the Mexican dinner was when Stevie and Lindsey were asked to join the band. It was up to Christine for her to feel our her chemistry with Stevie. Remember Rock Trivia (the 80s board game) It was an actual question. When did Lindsey and Stevie join Fleetwood Mac? Dec 31, 1974 Also Rock stations frequently mention on New Years Eve after playing Fleetwood Mac state it is the anniversary of Stevie and Lindsey joining. So everyone has been wrong about this?

He’s conflating two events mentioned in Mick’s book. Christine and Bob had a minor tiff backstage towards the end of the Heroes’ tour. He quit. (Shapiro says Bob had been planning to quit anyway.) There was a period of time when they thought they could convince him to stay. When they couldn’t, Mick realized he’d need to find another guitarist. Hence the New Year’s Eve call to Keith Olsen.

In the documentary Fleetwood Mac....Don’t stop
I’m sure New Year’s Eve 1974 is mentioned as the night they went for a Mexican meal. |

On New Year's Eve, Stevie and Lindsey were having a little party at their house and wondering if 1975 was going to be a better year for them. Then Keith Olsen walked in and said, "Hey, I've got some news . . . Fleetwood Mac want you to join them." It didn't specify if the meeting was the same night: Later Stevie would give me a hard time. "Aaabhh, if I hadn't been with Lindsey you wouldn't have wanted me." And like that. All I can say is that I remembered this guitar player but couldn't remember his name. Keith Olsen called me back and said that Stevie and Lindsey were interested, and so we set up a dinner meeting at a Mexican restaurant called El Carmen. Lindsey came up to our house on Fernwood, off Laurel Canyon. Judy Wong was there too

https://www.premierguitar.com/articl...ds_Keith_Olsen So I drop what I was going to do on that New Year’s Eve, take my date, and we drive over to Stevie and Lindsey’s house. I said, “Hey, Happy New Year” and all of this—I brought over the obligatory bottle of bad champagne—and I said, “Can we talk? Mick Fleetwood would like you to join Fleetwood Mac.” Immediately, Lindsey said, “Oh, no, no—I couldn’t possibly play anything as good as Peter Green did. How am I supposed to get up there and play ‘The Green Manalishi’?” Finally I get them, by the end of the night, to try it on a trial basis for eight weeks.

I think Christine was more enamored of their harmonies than Mick ever was. She might have loved their combined vocals on BN. I doubt he cared. Even to this day. He revels in the instruments. I don’t think he ever lays down half asleep, smiling with the memory of how good the harmonies sounded on Farmer’s Daughter.
