That doesn’t mean they didn’t suck and that they missed an opportunity to really come out swinging.

However, I think The Chain is sacred. Clearly more than the band does. I didn’t know Lindsey sang it on solo tours but I think that’s a shame. I didn’t like it when the post-Tango band sang it either.

The song is the heart and anchor of Rumours and the closest FM has to a full band song. No one standing out. And it’s highly personal.

I don’t like when it’s covered by anyone, from Melissa Etheridge in Queen Latifah show to Harry Styles.

Same with this new FM. The song means nothing to Finn/Campbell. And it showed with the awkwardness/no chemistry.

Moreover, I absolutely think it showed zero respect for the many diehard fans who have stood by this band and who are highly disappointed (understatement) by what has happened. To introduce themselves, they chose the one song that defines Rumours 5 the most. It was a crass, thoughtless move.

If they wanted to open with a song that shows the new band as a whole and that everyone knows, they should’ve chosen Don’t Stop.

Somebody questioned in a thread (bwboy???) whether critics of the current incarnation actually like the band. That has to be a good question. I'd say its possible to be a fan of the music but its increasingly becoming difficult to be a fan of the people. I once idolized all of them. Over the years I've come to realize they are all deeply flawed in character.

Well said, both of you.

I would possibly disagree however, that the choice of The Chain was thoughtless.

I think it was done with full awareness.

I think it was meant as a F. U. to a certain someone. Whether from the band to him or just from Stevie (and Mick?) I dunno. And before the troll sh*tshow starts, no, I can't PROVE it. I just feel it, and given the above mentioned deeply flawed characters involved, it seems very plausible to me. If you don't agree, well, it's a free country.

I agree. They(especially $he) knew exactly what they were doing. F.U. indeed. #douches

I can bet you that it was LB's idea to piece all those songs together. Tambourine Ho just loves sticking in the knife. I should have listened to you Homer. She's the WORST. Why don't do Frozen Love? I can write Stevie's self important speech:

"This song was played for Mick when he was checking out studios to record a new album. A certain someone who was asked to join the band refused unless they asked me. I always hated that story because it made him seem more important and more talented then me. Guess who had the last laugh? I got him fired!!!! I think all of your collective consciousness was thrown out into the world and got that nasty bad man canned! And I thank all of you from the bottom of my fairy heart. Also just to let you know, I will be re recording EVERY Fleetwood Mac song that that bad man produced so it can be heard in the two note range it was written! I'll be playing all the instruments!!! Anyway let's get this party startedddddd!!!!!"

Is it acceptable to be calling people hoes now?

There is an "e" a the end of that word, by the way...

Is this how people get through life? They don't like the way things turn out, so they sneer and whine and call people ugly names?

I agree. By thoughtless, I meant not showing consideration of their fans.

Nathan the "ho" was on purpose. It's kind of like not spelling a curse word correctly. I'm sorry you don't like it but the tambourine witch (is that better?) deserves everything she gets right now.

I DO AGREE....I think it was a calculated move too, they had many other songs to choose particularly Christine's....and chose not to. Not a coincidence

Absolutely!

and everyone who thinks that is not the case, must not really be a fan of either FM, SN or LB or does not know how to pick up on social clues. because hardcore fans of this band are well aware of their dynamic and this is plain as day.

and yes, what you said about trolls! don't @ us. we all know it's true, and if you argue this point you are just trolling.

See, this is the type of drama that seems completely unnecessary to interject into the conversation. I can guarantee you that they weren’t thinking of Lindsey when they picked The Chain.

Just from a practical perspective, The Chain is one of their better known songs, it features the voices together, has brief male lead vocals, and has a blazing guitar solo. Perfect way to show the new male lead vocalist and the new lead guitarist within the context of the band.

I agree with everything you said. For a band with 3 vocalists the Chain is the perfect song to showcase the new lineup. Not to mention, it's a killer song, a crowd pleaser, and was featured recently in a huge movie. The idea that they performed it as some sort of vendetta against Lindsey is typical of some people's mindset against Fleetwood Mac. It's not like they performed Big Love or Never Going Back Again.
