Can't comment on your friend but 30 million sounds about right for Neil. "Don't Dream It's Over" probably alone generates close to a million a year in royalties (as an example Sting recently said that he makes close to a million dollars a year in royalties from "Every Breath You Take") and Crowded House sold about 12 million albums thus far and had a bunch of big tours. And that doesn't include Split Enz and all of Neil's movie soundtrack deals.

Huh? There is no standard songwriting royalty per song. It's based on a ton of factors such as sales, plays, streams, movie features, etc. A song like "Don't Dream It's Over" is used everywhere and songs like that generate somewhere between 500,000 to a million per year. Then you add in his other big hits like Something So Strong, Song of The Lonely Mountain, I Got You, etc. He's the sole songwriter in most of his songs as well meaning that gets all the royalties on those songs and doesn't have to share with co-writers. That's separate from the 12 million album sales that Crowded House has had plus his album sales from Split Enz, Finn Brothers, solo albums, etc. Then you add in all the tours and the revenue he gets from having a very active recording studio that he rents out to musicians and you get about 30 million in total net worth.

I’m not, but I have gone on record as saying DDIO was the best pop song of the ‘80s (YEARS ago), and “Persuasion” is a top-5 Richard Thompson song.

Agree about "Don't Dream It's Over". For me, it was also the best pop song of the 80's. It's one of those songs that carries such emotional weight and has that unforgettable melody. I would also say that "I Got You" was one of the best pop songs of the 80's. It's such a killer song when Neil and Tim perform it together. Persuasion is actually a Tim Finn song and not a Neil song.

I don't know about anyone else, but I commented on the vocals on the BuckVie performances being off. I even posted in almost real-time when I saw them live and commented on how off many of the vocals were. I also posted about the pre recorded tracks which I do not like

But apparently I'm now part of the Lindsey can do no wrong and I hate FM crowd.

One thing BuckVie shows had was an INCREDIBLE energy. Granted they started slow with that acoustic mini set (which I thought was a bad idea) but it was a barnburner once they got going. I will also add the energy of the two of them on Fallon was lovely.

It will be interesting to see what the energy level is for the rest of the FM appearances and on the tour.

I know. The question was if you were on a fanpage/forum for “Crowded House/Split Enz/Neil Finn/Finn Family.” Last I checked, Tim was part of the Finn family.

And the Finn family part you mentioned is totally irrelevant, the brothers solo careers are completely separate. It's like saying Stevie and Lindsey's solo careers are linked.....uuuummmm. no.

But back to the point, Neil is incredibly wealthy and not a spender there is no point denying that part. Mick however I very much doubt and am actually certain has very few dollars in the bank to rub together

Yesterday's performance shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Lindsey has been carrying the band on his back for the last two decades. His energy and charisma was so valuable to this band.

I really thought that Neil's voice would sound a bit closer to Lindsey. As a lead singer, Neil is not a good fit for large arena shows. He's a low key, easy going kind of guy. No way he can bring the same level of energy as Lindsey. It's not in his DNA.

I think the world of Christine. But she's five years older than Lindsey and Stevie. She looks great, but she's really frail. It was so evident on the Buck Vie tour.

So now Stevie is the leader of the band. Okay, so she has no range anymore. No big deal, everyone loves Stevie. Just ask her. Really, she has become so self centered. Have you ever heard anyone talk as much about ME and I. Her speech at Music Cares was an embarrassment. I used to be a Stevie fan. Then I realized how shallow and self centered she has become. And frankly, I don't think she's very intelligent spewing lies and constantly contradicting herself.

Looking forward to Lindsey's tour. First time ever that I will miss a FM concert...and I've seen them eleven times. No more.

First post in many years for this..

Yeah so this performance was just boring..

"Fleetwood Stevie and the Crowded Housebreakers" were okay, but this isn't really Fleetwood Mac, not now, not after so many years.

Campbell's guitar solo in The Chain was lacking, and Finn's vocals while mostly okay his pronunciation of the words 'never' and 'love' ('lurve') grate with me.

As for the performance of Gypsy, I love Stevie Nicks, and I love the song Gypsy. This performance sounded tired though. Such is the way with old artists and performers. Stevie is 70; she looks good, and sounds okay, that's about all I can say.

Don't think I'd be too keen to pay money to see this band.
