The story about Lindsey insisting that FM hire Stevie is just part of the Stevie/Lindsey drama. It's a made of story. Keith Olsen has never told the story that way. Keith has always said that he explained, to Mick, that they were a couple. Then, Mick extended the invitation to both of them. In fact, Keith says that it was Stevie's brother who paid Stevie and Lindsey a salary to be in FM.

From a Keith Olsen interview:

"'But the good news is, you know those two kids, who were they? Lindsey and Stevie? Do you think they'd want to join my band? Could you go and find out?' And I took 12 hours of constant pounding on them to try to convince them to join Fleetwood Mac on a trial basis only. And they joined Fleetwood Mac as a trial basis and they said they'd do it just for 6 weeks. Then they got better, then they found out that they were making money, just because her brother's paying their salary at 500 bucks a week. They said, well this is great."

yes. and if you read all the good info in that link you'll see that the studio was called "Silent City".


probably much safer to go with what we could actually hear them saying in the Sound City movie - both Keith and Lindsey. and the bottom line from the above link as well as every version we heard - FM needed a guitarist and Lindsey would not join without Stevie. and as he said in jest at one of their OWTS tour shows - "and where did that get me?!" - which would have insteresting meaning right now.


talking about Keith, he also said that Stevie was absolutely useless as a cleaning lady and that's why he offered Stevie and Lindsey to just move into his house instead.

I've heard "Miranda" and a slew of other "Say You Will" tracks - I've always loved that album, especially the harmonies of Lindsey and Stevie.

But, what this station has really awaken me to is the pre-Rumours songs by Christine! I created a playlist on my iPod which includes "Just Crazy Love" "Remember Me" (playing now on FM Radio), "Come a Little Bit Closer" "Keep on Going" "The Way Feel" "Why" and others... not over produced, but just straight forward rock and roll.

Headed out to the farmer's market for shopping and taking Christine with me.

I have to agree with this. Not to take away from her 1975+ output, but she has some absolute gems in the years before that.

This is what also irks me about Stevie saying that they could never play anything from before 1975 because of others in the band (obviously referencing Lindsey). First of all, we all know that's not completely true mostly in the early years when they joined. But why the hell wasn't Christine ever pushing for her OWN material that predated the L/S era to be played live? If Stevie has always been so in love with that stuff why didn't she ever push to try something out from that era during the 2003-2015 tours? Give up that plodding dull as rocks Rhiannon that you've been trotting out for 20 years and try something from the Fleetwood Mac canon that you didn't write or have involvement with recording!

Wasn't Chris Nicks like 21? How could he even afford that... why would he want to suddenly start doing that... why would he need to do that on behalf of Fleetwood Mac.... Why the freak wouldn't FM pay SnL themselves? Keith has given many other interviews where he said nothing about this - in fact, I've never heard it before, from any of the people who were actually involved, and it makes no sense. I think he must have been hitting the booze before he gave this one interview!

I actually heard "Blood on the Floor" today from Kiln House. First Jeremy Spencer song I've heard since I've been listening. Jeremy's cool. Supposedly he was hilarious to hang around. A practical joker and all.

I feel like the further into the month they go, they are pulling deeper tracks out, which is awesome. I will be in the car all weekend! Cannot wait. I really hope they extend the channel.

Me too! After listening to this station over the last "few weeks", it amazes me that the pre Rumours lineups of FM weren't more successful. There are so many awesome songs they did. I'd say a lot are as good or better than the most popular ones of the Rumours Era FM. God, I wish I was a FM fan before Stevie and Lindsey joined and was able to see the old school FM in concert.
