I always thought I Need You by the Beatles sounded like something Christine would write. But I guess that doesn't count since the Beatles came first.
btw, isn't Christine a beautiful name? It sounds like something you would name a princess |

That's not the only One Direction song that's heavily influenced by FM. Have a listen to What a Feeling from Made in the AM. It's pretty obvious to me, especially the bass parts.

I can imagine Christine singing What a Feeling. Probably with less AutoTune.

Fading Fast by the Go-Go's? Maybe. 10,000 Maniacs has always reminded me a little of Fleetwood Mac, and Natalie Merchant had a 70s era hippie vibe to her. Like the Weather is one of my favorite songs ever, but their song Scorpio Rising really has a FM sound to it, and in the video Natalie really appears to be channeling Stevie, albeit with less make up or attention to keeping her hair looking perfect. I'm sure you can catch it on YouTube.

Lol I wonder why Natalie Merchant would have been nasty and vulgar for no reason? Is it possible the audience was rude to her, first? Just asking, I've been to plenty of concerts in my life, and I've never seen a performer act like that for no reason.
I have a concert CD where Natalie Merchant is talking and someone yells drunkingly "I love you, Natalie," and she says "shut up!" She doesn't seem to like obnoxious behavior, herself, which is why I question why she would be rude for no reason. I know Jewel has walked off the stage a few times, also, but I bet she had a reason. I'm not sure if I'd rather piss off Christine the car, or Christine the person. The car will run you down and kill you, but the person will slap you, throw wine in your face, and tell you that you're wearing a stupid, f*cking shirt!
