The best-selling vinyl in East Kilbride has been revealed.

After bringing back the format last month to sell alongside CDs, bosses at Sainsbury’s in Kingsgate Retail Park have revealed that Fleetwood Mac’s classic album ‘Rumours’ has been the best-seller.

The top record is closely followed by The Beatles records ‘Abbey Road’ and ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, and then The Stone Roses’ self-titleddebut.

Some of the other records on sale at the Sainsbury’s store include artists Adele, David Bowie, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, The Eagles, The Specials and The Smiths.

High demand for the resurgent format has also seen the Kingsgate store among the top 30 stores for vinyl sales in the company.

The EK store is the first supermarket chain in town to sell vinyl records since their sudden rise in popularity.

Pete Selby, Sainsbury’s head of music and books said: “There is an enduring love for this format with music fans and we’re delighted to offer an ongoing selection of titles for everyone, from contemporary releases to much-loved classics.”
