In 1985 Stevie was still trying to scrap together bits and pieces of a fragmented RAL. She went on tour the next spring and summer of 1986 while the Mac went into the studio. Stevie was late to join them in the studio because after the tour she went to rehab. She sent them demos before and during the tour. Tango was almost finished in late 1986 and Stevie was not happy she was barely on the album. She threatened to go to Rolling Stone with an exclusive interview to tell them she had nothing to do with the album. Christine had a few glasses of wine in her and went after Stevie "I wanted you to sing back up on Everywhere but you were not here!" Christine was having none of it. (Source: Mick's book)

I believe they started working on Tango in 1985. (See this timeline). Christine recorded the Elvis cover "Can't Help Falling In Love" for a movie soundtrack, she brought in Lindsey to co-produce the track, and that started the ball rolling.

Ok that timeline says "Late 1985" November, December? Tango started out as a Lindsey solo album. The band may have met to play on Christine's song but Rock A Little was released in November 1985. Stevie had nothing to do with the Mac at that time and was just releasing a solo album. I think John McVie was still in St Thomas too. Working with Christine was definitely a springboard to Tango sessions. The real serious recording happened in 1986. But it surely is possible in late 1985 they met with rough demos and Lindsey showed Mick and Christine what he had been working on.

There is a Stevie RAL concert in spring of 1986 where she announces to the audience that Fleetwood Mac just got back together and had a meeting and there would be a new record.
