New BPI certifications!

Hi, are there any estimations for sales of the 1971 Greatest Hits? I'm surprised it doesn't have any sort of certification. I always seem to see copies of it knocking around at car boot sales etc.

Well I know that pre-1973, the certification levels were different and so they don't show them on the database. Also, I can't seem to find anything that gives any clue as to how many copies the early era albums sold.

HOWEVER. I know that the self-titled 1968 Fleetwood Mac album sold many copies here. I have seen or heard somewhere that it's around a million so I suspect that all titles before 1975 have sold approximately 3 million copies, and that is NOT including singles so probably 5 million including singles as Albatross sold loads.

Well only Stevie has had BPI certifications and her list is as follows:

The Wild Heart - Silver. 60,000 copies.
Rock a Little - Gold. 100,000 copies.
The Other Side of the Mirror - Gold. 100,000 copies. (sold over 200,000 copies).
Timespace - Gold. 100,000 copies.
Crystal Visions - Silver. 60,000 copies.

Well that's the list but I know that Bella Donna has sold at least 100,000 copies but for some reason was never certified. Also, I know that Trouble in Shangri-La has sold around 30,000 and I would say the same or probably more for In Your Dreams.

My prediction for her whole catalogue is as follows:

Bella Donna - 150,000.
The Wild Heart - 80,000.
Rock a Little - 120,000.
The Other Side of the Mirror - 220,000.
Timespace - 100,000.
Street Angel - 30,000.
Enchanted - N/A
Trouble in Shangri-La - 30,000.
Crystal Visions - 70,000.
Soundstage Sessions - 10,000.
In Your Dreams - 40,000.
24 Karat Gold - 20,000.

So in total I would say that Stevie has sold around 900,000 albums in the UK. An educated guess but I think it's fairly accurate.

Everywhere has just been certified Gold in the UK for digital sales in excess of 400,000.

This is great news and shows just how popular this song has become over the last few years. It largely stems from the Pony advert that was extremely popular back in 2013.

Well, it's an educated guess. I know that at the end of 1989, TOSOTM sold upwards of 190,000 copies. That's from a credible year-end source that I can no longer find but noted it down years ago. It debuted at #3 with really strong sales and is easily her best charting and possibly highest selling album here in the UK. Therefore I think around 220,000 is a fairly accurate assumption.

As for RAL, it was a very slow seller and only ever reached as high as #30 and spent a while at the lower end of the top 100. It was certified Gold here in the UK in February 1987 which shows how it took around 15 months to sell 100,000 copies. Therefore it is probable that it has sold around 120,000 possibly more but not a lot more as it was a very slow seller.

People outside the UK must not forget that TOSOTM was a considerable hit here in the UK and I remember seeing a publication from 1989 that showed that it was the best-selling album on CD format for a week. Her other albums sold very steadily but this album sold many copies in just one week. I think it sold around 100,000 copies in week one.
