I used to love Pearl Jam (and Nirvana, Smashing Pumkins etc) as a teenager and back then they used to be super-cool grungers with their long hair, cut-off jeans and lumber jack shirts. You see them today and they're still great but they're grown-up respectable parents with sensible haircuts and tidy clothes.

also Soundgarden and STP (however much hipsters of the time were apparently spitting on STP but i loved their songs and they were great in concert).

many of those from the 90s who survived are ageing nicely and figured out how to still stay relevant and making new music. catching Chris Cornell when he does solo acoustic tours is a special treat - his shows make it very clear why live shows are worth it as opposed to just listening to the recordings, and of course his is still one of the best voices in rock!
