She is just kissing ass. Actually, the Rolling Stones look aweful. Fleetwood Mac looks better. But it is easier for women to criticize women.

It's music, it shouldn't matter what people look like anyway.

The Stones really are a great band still. Which is an amazing thing in this day and age. They can play any style of music and do it well. It's one of the few shows I would actually pay to see, along with Petty and the Heartbreakers and U2. They are amongst the top five touring bands out there today. We all age and I don't go to a show looking for them to look like they did in their 20's. In fact I much prefer the way they all look now. It lends something to their stage presence and performance.

Something tells me that Grace Slick is actually criticizing the three men in the Mac, not the women.

Something tells me that Grace Slick can't tell the difference.

I don't really think Grace is out of her head, at all but she really believes this whole ageism thing. This interview is from 1992 with Howard Stern. She's open and honest. Howard seems captivated. |

I think you're onto something here.
No one can be objective and I think Grace, a woman, looks at women like Stevie and Christine and projects her own insecurities onto them. It's a form of internalized misogyny. There's also an unequivocal jealousy about how the Mac has managed to continue cashing in on its legacy whereas Jefferson Starship--once a staple of 70s FM radio--has not. She can be in awe of the Stones because she was never in their league. In her head, she sees the Mac, who once toured with and, in fact, supported, Jefferson Starship, as peers. It's more easy to criticize your brother than your father. |

She's entitled to her opinion and even she concedes the band still sound great. She's obviously happy in her retirement but it's not for everyone. |

Well they did play Altamont together so who knows what sort of guilt twisted ties may have resulted from that fiasco?
