But what if you were a 23 year old man who had a deep love for Fleetwood Mac too? If they too were able to have the experience it would be fair game. But they are not and that is one of the reasons people are upset.

From what I've heard and seen its before the show starts so they are at the front for the entire show but its only on Lindsey's side. If you're in front of Stevie or Christine nobody gets moved up front and only front row is allowed to go up. Its totally different from 2009 and 2013 where they let up the first 3-5 rows in all the front sections.

My friend went to Buffalo on Saturday and said a steady stream of young girls were being let up. She said it was both Ian and Justin who were bringing them up. She had 3rd row and didn't manage to get up until later in the show.
She also said that the girls were being placed all the way down the stage not just near Lindsey.
Not sure why the policy about getting up front has changed but 2009 was the best. The band had the nicest staff working for them.

Wow thats crazy! At the Pittsburgh show only the first row was let up on Stevie & Christine's side it was insane. My friend and I were 3rd row and they were sending people back the entire time. The security guard stood there until the last note of the last song was played but meanwhile on Lindsey's side it was a free for all.
2013 was so much better they let the first 3 rows up front. I thought it was odd that half the people on Stevie's side where my hubby and I were never went up so I had a good 15 feet of space all by myself. In 2009 I had front row so was already at the front but they let the first 5 rows up and it was packed but everybody was very respectful and didnt try to get in front of me or anything.

Wow. Unacceptable. I didnt want to chime in earlier until i got all the facts. I agree with Patti, it is completely unacceptable and out of control. Fleetwood Mac is very lucky the fans in the front row in each city havent gotten together and filed a class action lawsuit. Someone said in a earlier post they were told if they were not sitting in their seat they forfeited their seat. Legally, when you purchase a ticket that seat belongs to you for the entirety of the show. You can get up and get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc and be able to come back to your seat. Also, when you purchase a front row ticket you have an expectation of an unobstructed view. This is where (from a legal standpoint) fleetwood mac could lose a lawsuit.

If they brought the girls up with only one song left, i would be more flexible and say well the same thing happens at a stevie nicks show with the edge walk....but it is completely unacceptable to do it with more than one or two songs left. They need to be careful allowing this to happen, because if the fans get together they will sue the mac for damages. Its not like the can say they didnt know their staff was doing this. One time, yes. City after city, no.

They do let the front row up first but not the second or third and this includes Mick's VIP ticket holders. They are all held back while at least 20 or more young girls are let up to the front escorted by Ian and ironically Justin who does the Mick VIP meet and greets.

I find the security people standing in the aisle more disruptive than anything. If you're close the the aisle, you have to deal with a continuous line of people trying to come up for a picture and the security guy screaming in their ear to go back to their seats. For almost three hours straight, it's a continual confrontation between people and security sending them back to their seats. At least, that's what it was in Columbus. The line was backed up the entire length of the front section, one by one they all came up and took a picture and security told them to go back to their seats.

Yeah I think you just have to ask. One of the girls brought up with me brought her boyfriend up too. They didn't ask him to come up or offer, but they were ok with it once she asked. And another time I was brought up, they let us bring up my friend's 40 something year old mom with us as well.
I really don't think it's a dirty thing or a thing based solely on appearance. I've been brought up at multiple shows now. And I'm not "hot or blonde".
They just want young people to make it more exciting and fun up there. And there's a point there. I think of shows I've been to at casinos where everybody at the front was 50+ and had comp seats. No matter how big the act is, it kind of feels like you're just sitting at a piano bar if there's nobody standing up, singing along, screaming, clapping, dancing, etc. It's an entirely different experience when there is a lot of excitement at the stage. So I definitely get why they bring young people up, and I'm glad that to make it somewhat fair, they don't bring any of us up until everybody in the front made it up and got their spot at the stage first. However I also think it would be a lot more ethical if they allowed more than just the first row up there. Like maybe 1-3, or 1-5.

When I went for the one and only concert I can afford for this tour, it was very upsetting that those of us who paid the high prices for VIP seats were not only told that we weren't allowed to go up to the front but then all these people were brought up from way in the back. At least some of the Ledgies benefitted from it but it was so disheartening after loving Fleetwood Mac almost my entire life that we were treated so horribly by the band's management (it was FM's management who has made the decision to restrict access to only the front row--and then they went around the arena looking for all of the young girls and others who are the "right" people to be up there).

I am very enthusiastic and it felt completely discriminatory to be in the second row--my first and only time after going to see this band for 40 years--and to be told that we were not allowed up there when all these other people who paid a fraction of what we did were. It sucked and I'm still upset about it. In fairness, they should have at least let the first 3-5 rows of VIP's go up. But since they didn't value us any more than that, I don't know I will ever go to another FM concert.

I have so many mixed feelings about this practice... I'm 24 and slim and decent looking at the very least, there's a good chance I could be one of the lucky ones picked. However, and this isn't totally the bands fault at all and is more a venue issue and just the screwy reality of the world but thought I would bring this up just for an added perspective- I'm disabled. Been a fan most of my life, can't put into words how much this band means to me or describe the medical horrors the band/their music has helped me through. I think I may have posted almost a year ago early early in this thread hoping even I would have a chance but my health only gets worse, I was very sick at the show I went to and things aren't shaping up so hot for the Feb 14th show Im hoping to attend (I'm close to paying a friend to come with me in case, g-d forbid something happens to me) Im diehard enough that if I was picked, well I would freaking go. But I couldn't last. Not to mention I have a backpack of medical equipment so not sure I want some drunk casual fan snagging my IV tubing and if anyone were to slam into me, yikes...

I use a wheelchair though I can stand short periods and walk if I have to and I'm prone to pushing too hard because the world as a whole is just not particularly (often not at all really) accessible. G-d I would kill to be near the stage, just an honest to G-d life dream. If I even manage to get an accessible seat well there's neve ver wheelchair seating on the floor, in 2013 people who paid more than me for their accessible seats were way further away than I was in the cheaper accessible seats. Venues are required to have at least a few accessible seats in all price ranges but that never includes the floor and I went in 2014 without my chair because there was no accessible seats left and oh boy I had to be physically lifted up the steps... And was on time but ended up late because they ensue does wheelchair transport to seats but the idiot who wheeled me took some crazy long roundabout way and it's a shame there were so many people crowded up by Lindsey because it took even longer to get to our seats because I had be wheeled all the way around the whole floor section and argh, it was a mess.

Again, I realize that's venue issues not the band. But hey if people want to be upset virtually every single one of you has access to better seats and more of a chance of getting up front than me. Wish I could surround myself with true fans and we could all go to the front and when I got tired I'd go sit and I assume if everyone around me was there for the music and not just the booze or whatever, maybe it would work out.

If I ever win the lottery I'm hiring my own Ledgie posse to make this happen. We'll pay off security so we all get up front too, deal?

This is an important point and a reminder of how necessary it is to create accessible spaces.

I still find myself thinking that whether one is disabled or older or by some standard unattractive, there is a huge problem in discriminating against some people. To be in the second row and denied access is offensive.

There are some people who may prefer not to go up to the stage. But others, regardless of age, looks, etc, may find this to be a dream come true. Some of the women who were brought up to the stage in Buffalo were clearly not interested in the band. To those second row folks who wanted to go up, I'm sorry.

For me, the biggest issue is that the band denied those who purchased seats up front from going up. I remember when I arrived at my seat at 8:10, security was already blocking the entrance to the row so that people could not get out.

I hope someone from the band reads these posts. This is not the type of behavior that I would expect from Fleetwood Mac.

What do you mean they were blocking so "people could not get out". Are you saying they wouldnt let you leave the row even to go to the bathroom? If so, that is outrageous!


Your last statement "this is not the type of behavior..." Reminds me of stevie saying, " we are not nice, we are rock and rollers"....keep in mind, they have never gone out of their way to embrace their fans...unless of course money or publicity was involved. Classic Mac.
