Still think Stevie is going to do the FM album?

The reason I want Stevie on board is because I would love to see new music with these five people. Even though Mirage and Tango were primarily written by Christine and Lindsey, we still got Gypsy, That's All Right, Straight Back, Seven Wonders. And her harmonies on the other two writers' tunes.

Lindsey is right, it's a band of chemistry and while she can be insufferable with her bloviating. She is huge in the chemistry of the band. Plus, she's singing better than I've heard since the Dance. All 3 of them are. (not to mention finances are good with her there, just like with Christine or Lindsey)

So that's why I want her on it.

If she doesn't do the album and they fire her. We might get a solid album and then see them in small intimate venues. (I'm not mad about that either.)

You could say that same statement on all their fab 5 albums; Fleetwood Mac, Rumors, Tusk all feature Stevie the least. Buckingham and McVie always have more songs.

Does anybody think that, in part, all the continued "drama" talk from the members of Fleetwood Mac is simply to add to a larger narrative? It's great for business to constantly be discussing the relationships and "craziness" that is the band as it is what grabs headlines. I do not for one second think that Stevie and Lindsey are anywhere near being best friends, however I do think that both are very good at heighthening their neutrality towards each other in order to keep the Fleetwood Mac saga going within the public; the ongoing troubles of Fleetwood Mac is what keeps many interested in the band.

agree, but there does seem to be this new, additional layer to the talk lately. Anyone else notice how much Stevie has latched onto this new narrative (especially since her mom died) about how she's been "raised to be independent" and "raised not to depend on any man' Now, she's said similar sorts of things off and on for years… but this seems to have become her theme for this point in time, and on this tour. Like she creates a "uniform" in terms of her outfits and hair and jewelry for each tour, she crafts a series of talking points and a narrative for each tour. This tour it's all about her independence and how she's beholden to no one. She's taken it even further in the Rolling Stone article and in the Maclean's article (see the Stevie thread for the whole article). In the Maclean's she is really feisty and says "no one has the balls to tell me what to do" blah blah blah. So it feels like there's something up, on top of just having her talking points for the tour (which I get when you do a zillion interviews for months and months-- you're not under the stress of coming up with something new every time you meet with a reporter)… she's really trying to prove something, whatever it is. Time is getting short for them to get sh*t done individually and as a team… does she feel she gave up too much along the way for the band and she's not going to do it again??

This is extremely easy to decipher IMHO....

Stevie is very jealous that LB got to "walk out" and come back and get all the attention that it brought when he came back in the 90's.

Then Christine leaves and gets all the love she has received this year.

Stevie wants people to beg here to stay/come back, and thank her so much for staying/recording.


When this tour ends they will go their own way (sorry). She will do some recording/touring on her own. Then somewhere around the 2017 timeline she'll be back to record, and she will expect every article to talk about how she "came back" for one more. (or she's really gonna get pissed)

This whole "i can't get along with LB" talk rings hollow to me after all these years, it's felt like she thinks she has to say that for over 10 years now. If she didn't add drama the questions would stop....what would she do then.

Just to clarify, There will absolutely be no Fleetwood Mac album without Stevie. It just wouldn't work

Yes and no. When LB left it was a huge story. When SN left many people were surprised the MAC was still touring. The point remains the same. Stevie has never had what she views as the swooning over absence.

Why the hell would Stevie want to look the problem? She's coming off really bad here. Many fans are pissed at her. I doubt she would willingly be the fall guy for fake drama. She's just acting like a diva for real. UGH.

She's been avoiding the album subject long before her album came out.

Didn't both Mick and Christine attend Stevie's Polaroid show in New York? It's unlikely that her album went acknowledged. I don't think she ever expects too much praise from the Fleetwood Mac camp. There was little support from them when she went off and made Bella Donna. Around the same time, Lindsey released his solo debut Law and Order. In an press interview, he commented that he thought his album was better than hers.

By now, Stevie is used to having Fleetwood Mac (mostly Lindsey) being indifferent to her solo work. She just wants respect.
Obviously she takes herself too seriously. With two dueling divas in the band, there is bound to be tension.

I can see why Lindsey's work on Soldier's Angel was so appealing to him, because it channeled the dark, raw angst that exists in many of his songs. It was the first time he gave some indirect praise to Stevie. They had reignited their chemistry, and he expressed motivation to work with her if she wrote more songs at that level and style.

The last we heard, she had not listened to Christine and Lindsey's songs for the new FM album. If she had shown any interest in what they were doing at all, maybe they'd show her the same courtesy.

If she's not involved then there are still so many positives. It will give us all the chance to experience a new dynamic. Most of us love Christine/Lindsey collaborations. A whole albums-worth (or even double albums-worth) would be monumental. I'm betting the stuff they've done sounds great.

Hell, they might not sell that many copies but I'm sure it'd be a terrific album- they could even go chasing a Grammy! Everyone would be lauding their critical success.

In the meantime Stevie records another bargain-bin album, falls out with Dave, sees the error of her ways and comes crawling back.

Pleeeeease Christine my lifelong bestest girlfriend. Pleeeeeeease Lindsey Mr musical genius.

They eventually relent, record a final album as a 5 piece, huge tour....etc
