We have to remember that the lyrics of Gold dust woman were written way before that Lindsey ever met Carol Anne Harris.
But it's also true that when Stevie writes a song she mixes up different written lyrics of her poetry in a new melody and probably improvises new lyrics as well.
In the past in her interviews about Gold Dust Woman she said that:

- She probably saw someone very addicted to heroin and that scared her and made her write about a woman with a heavy addiction to cocaine
- She and Chrsitine had their personal stockpile of coke in pretty little silk bags that they wore as necklaces and used silver tea spoons to consume it
- She saw Lindsey, in the aftermath of their break-up, waking up with a different girl every day and that immediately put her in a bad mood
