They want to put out an album because they have all of the foundations of it pretty much done. They just need Stevie to contribute.
I hate it when people say about the album 'going Gold'. Have you seen the Billboard charts lately? Veteran acts like them don't sell 500,000 copies of a new studio album anymore. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' new album sold about 250,000 copies and that included extra sales from concert tickets. Pink Floyd's new album has sold approximately 220,000 copies in three weeks and they're a big selling album act. The album has plummeted as of today and is at #25 showing that the only way is down from now. This new album if it does come out eventually, will debut at around #3 with strong first week sales of around 100,000, but after that it'll die and will sell around 200,000 copies +. It may be a different story in the UK however as album sales here for them are very strong and they are ALWAYS on the album charts. I think the album could sell around 100,000 copies here and would almost certainly go to #1. The days of a new studio album going 'Gold' is extremely rare nowadays I'm afraid! ![]() |

With all this drama .I think this band needs a reality show.I hate reality shows but I will be glued to the tube watching it.

thanks for bumming out our scene
I personally think this is a can of rubbish. They would be stupid if they decided not to try to put out out one last album. I'm sure they'll make it happen, despite any push back from Stevie, or whatever it might be. And yes, I would watch this soap opera too, on what my father used to call the idiot box! ![]()

but sadly cameras would never capture what really goes on because they won't let it happen. anyone who thinks that the Tusk or Destiny Rules docs are not very, very sanitized is naive. If you watched the Tusk doc you'd think it was all pretty hunky-dory when most of the insider accounts of what it really was like talk about the fights and the yelling and the back and forth with Stevie and Lindsey; about the incredible tension between Stevie and Mick over Sara; the coke being passed around and so on. Did you see any of that on film? A resounding NO.Even the DR doc… very watered down. They completely and totally skimmed right over the big fights over the final running order and length of the album, where Stevie threatened not to tour more than the original 40 dates if LB got his way.... The angry words flying across the ocean like some seabirds… Totally white washed. A *real* doc like some other bands have done would be AMAZING. (The Metallica one was riveting and I'm not really even a fan). I would be absolutely glued to every episode! |

They would never stoop that level, just throwing away all of their integrity. The reality show should feature a bunch of disparate Ledgies gathered together; that's where drama will take place.

I thought the rules for pairing albums with concert tickets is that it had to be optional and not for free. Tom Petty's album was free with every concert ticket. Pretty sure that doesn't count for sales. But maybe the rules have changed again.

With those inflated tix prices .They can afford to throw in an album.

I think the albums Madonna gave away with the purchase of concert tickets for her last album counted towards the album's sales.

Could be....although a final Mac album with the Rumours group would be more noteworthy (I think) than the Eagles final album was....and that one went triple platinum.

For instance, although the Rumours soap opera garnered a lot of publicity, to say the very least, when they were promoting Tusk, they didn't pretend to be in conflict to sell Tusk. In fact, they tried to appear more unified than they actually were about Tusk, in the media. Michele |
