*Cough* Australia? *Cough*

As for the rest, yawn. Can't even make myself even a little worked up over it at this stage, honestly. It is what it is.

"I don't know, because nothing can be done on that until we're done, and we have another seventy shows until this American tour is done, then we have Australia, then we have Europe. This isn't gonna be done until this time next year," Stevie tells ABC News Radio about the prospect of a new Mac album. "So, I don't know how I'm gonna feel in a year."
So this tour will go into October/November of 2015?
Am I reading this correctly? If true, I guess far more dates will be announced. I suppose a second leg of the west coast will also happen.

Well, I'm kind of with her on this.
They are all nearing 70 and touring must be tiring plus they've got at least another 6/7 months of it.
They can't tour and make records as far as she sees it.....they made the decision to tour first, so the Album will have to wait.

yes, she seems in for the money grab, but not for creative endeavors.

Obviously, she doesn't remember recording Rumours and going on the road during breaks in recording sessions. And, the rest of the band obviously has forgotten that they used to "try out" new songs live before tightening them up in the studio (GYOW, YMLF & SotM come to mind right away in that regard).

Lately, I think they've just gotten really full of s**t when it comes to how they run things. They sure know how to ruin the good vibes of Christine's return.

The thing is the others don't need to wait and see how they feel. They can make plans and just stick to them. They want to make an album now and they'll want to then. Honestly I think she just doesn't want to come out and say no. She didn't want to participate earlier this year and instead decided she wanted to record a solo album. At no point has she intimated that she was interested in an album so it's not like well she'd like to now but this darn tour is in the way. If she felt like doing an album in a year she would have to be persuaded of it.

Yes, it's not as if she said, "You can have an album or you can have a tour, but you can't have both." And they said, "we'll take the tour." She never said that an album with participation from her was on the table at all.

Is there any chance that Stevie's problem is:

(1) she's concerned about her songs being seen as "inferior" to Christine's (as was the general consensus on Tango in the Night) and so she wants to wait until she comes up with some stellar new songs before committing?

Or (2) she is in fact committed to a new Mac album, but is acting indifferent in order to hold out for more money from a prospective label -- like "give me enough cash and I'll hop on board"?

well as Lindsey always likes to point out, there's ALWAYS politics in every freaking decision within FM, so I'm sure some part of this is her leveraging her position to get what she wants, whatever that is (my bet, producer). But it does seem like she feels like she gave up solo work (touring) to support FM this time around and she's not going to do it again

if true, yes.

which also mean that FM77's info about tour ending in June 2015 is old info, not currently true anymore.

it's also funny how SN thinks that her 3-4 songs will need a year to record while 15 or so already recorded (with 8 practically finished) needed only 2.5 months.

Stevie said in the quote: US, then Australia, then Europe. Why do you think it's going into Oct/Nov?

The interview happened during the FM break recently so she could do the Late Show. So her quote, puts it at same time now, next year:
"This isn't gonna be done until this time next year," Stevie tells ABC News Radio about the prospect of a new Mac album. "So, I don't know how I'm gonna feel in a year."

I am a frequent reader but very seldom post anything because it seems like posts from "new fans" or new members are not to be commented on.

Anyhow....and if anything I will probably get bashed for this but I admire her for being honest about not being on board for a new record and not knowing if she ever will be, instead of giving promises and do things that perhaps she knows will not make her happy and do it just out of duty and not with her heart in the right place.

She commited to a new, quite extensive tour with FM right after getting back from a huge tour - jumping on a new tour that NEVER would have happened if it weren't for Christine returning. So even if it has been Stevie's dream to have Chris back why should she feel obliged to commit to everything that the rest of them wants just because Chris is back???

If it means a new FM record without Stevie so be it. Go Stevie!! Considering how loyal she has been to Fm (that's my opinion) over the years I think she has the right to do what ever makes her happy at this stage in her life, especially since there seem to be so many things that she would still like to do the next ten years.

That was my 2 cents I guess...... now going back to my "only reading not posting" state of mind....

Well, "New Poster", I agree with everything you posted here, and not just for my own selfish reasons. She did make a record recently, and she does have to promote it at some point, otherwise it'll be too late. She may as well throw 24 Karat Gold right into the garbage can. I'm glad she was honest. Of course after this whole things done, she could change her mind once again. Who knows. As far as her doing the two or just for a money grab, I think you could maybe accuse all of them of that.

Jamie

(sorry about the typos on the original post - stupid phone)

Too late. The album will never get any farther than it already has, promotion/tours or not. Sorry to say that, but that's just the reality.
