Dave posted a picture of a wooden sign (that you can buy at any kitschy shop) that says "Wild Heart Gypsy Soul" and merely said that Stevie's album was sounding supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ~ Obviously he's excited about the record and the words "Wild Heart" and "Gypsy" are totally two things that enter his/our heads when he/we think of Stevie. The song "Gypsy Beggar" (and a host of MANY other songs, book titles, movies, lyrics, etc) merely contain the lyrics, "gypsy soul". Not "Wild Heart, Gypsy Soul". Just simply, "Gypsy soul". Someone on this board got excited and said "Gypsy Beggar" which then got OTHER people excited and now all of a sudden, it's rumoured to be on the album. Don't get me wrong, if it does make it on the record, and they do a great job, I'll be happy...but I just think we all need to stop jumping to conclusions and pulling indefinite/conjectural "facts" out of the air. Just my opinion. Don't stone me, please.

"The Dealer"??? How do we know this one is going to be on the album, Mitzo?

Thanks for posting this, John!!! I was never fond of the original demo (or outtake, if you will) but based on that tiny sampling, I'm loving the way Stevie's voice sounds! Not sure about the musicality of it yet, but this could be another surprise like "Everybody Loves You", where the initial "tease" was nothing compared the actual, grandiose and awesome version. Here's hoping "Starshine" turns out excellent!!!
No clear indication The Dealer will be included but it is a popular demo on YouTube. Sadly. I am just depressed at hearing that snippet of Starshine and the demo on YouTube. Of all her vault work, what the hell. Never mind me, I am a fan of the more ethereal and obscure Stevie and am yearning for some Forest of the Black Roses and Joan of Arc type things.

"Starshine" isn't among my favorite songs from the vault, but this snippet doesn't sound bad at all. I think Stevie sounds great.

Personally, I hope "Gypsy Beggar" is not one of the songs she's recorded. I've never enjoyed it.

I'd be delighted if "China Doll," "She Loves Him Still," "Julia," "The Dealer," "Love You Enough," "All the Beautiful Worlds," and "Blue Water" make the final cut. Everything else would be cake.

I hope "Goldfish and Ladybug" and "The Dance (old fashioned)" aren't on there.

We shouldn't judge the song from a behind-the-scenes clip of a work in progress.
Still, I feel your pain. My same reaction: Starshine? WTF? Granted, it could turn out better than we expect. But still, so many other songs with better potential.

Starshine's lyrics suck. If she actually releases this song, I hope she somehow makes those rubbish lyrics work; perhaps meant to be clever, it is horrendous nonsense.

I think it's so great Dave throws us these little updates, and the 16 or whatever seconds sounded great to me. I'm unfamiliar with the demo. I am just so excited and thankful for this.

I'm afraid some of the older stuff that I love the most (Forest, Joan, Maker) are just out of her range now, and she's picking songs that are more compatible with her voice these days…. I don't think she could sing Forest in the same pitch and with the same "smooth" vocal that she had on the demo, for instance. Not sure it would sound the same with the raspier, deeper voice she has now.. and maybe she doesn't like the way she might have to alter the song.

We'll of course she will not sound the same but she can still make those songs work. I want those songs too. I will be really disappointed if she doesn't do at least Maker of Birds. The snippet of Starshine sounds just like the demo.

I love the way Starshine sounds the tambo is a nice touch and the vocal sounds great. I still think regardless of what makes the final cut for the album, we're in for a real treat and a bonus disc of some of the better raw stuff and fully fleshed out version of some of these songs would be delightful.

I agree 100%. Whatever she puts out will be a gift. I have no expectations, just complete gratitude that this woman is still doing this. Thanks Dave, and thank you Stevie.

Me three. I would not have thought Stevie would record another album only 3 years following In Your Dreams. Especially not while a Fleetwood Mac album with Christine McVie is being recorded concurrently. Add to the fact that the album is solely old demos and is being recorded incredibly quickly- both things fans have been screaming for for decades now- and this just seems like the grand gesture us diehards have long been waiting for.

Though I'd never heard the original demo for Starshine before Dave tossed us that little snippet, I'm incredibly excited after hearing it. The original demo is just so spunky & foot tapping. It seems like a song Stevie would truly have fun recording. And that's where it's at, really. If she has fun recording, that will shine through in the final product.

I honestly don't have any hopes, expectations, or anything of the sort this time around. I'm just glad the woman recording again & seemingly having a great time doing it.

In some ways, I'd almost rather they work on "lackluster" demos such as Starshine than on some of the fan favorites -- China Doll, Dealer (take 5), etc. -- because those are already perfect to me and would be hard to improve on!

Moving right along...Davey Johnstone played acoustic guitar on a lot of the Bella Donna album...
