History suggests that your assertion isn't true at all. Stevie pulled songs from her solo sessions for FM on "Mirage" ("Gypsy") and SYW ("Thrown Down", "Everybody Finds Out".)
And on Tango, FM had their pick of "Joan Of Arc" and "Juliet" and opted for WISYA and WTTRS

Ok so how did Edge of Seventeen one of the most spectacular rock songs ever written by a woman and Rooms on Fire one of the her best self penned singles end up on solo records....meanwhile on Tango she forced the band to make do with a single written by someone else?

Why??? Because FM has been afraid to record anything that leads them to far from the "Classic Rumours or FM sound"...Listen to "Sable On Blond" (Mick played drums on that song) it could have easily been a Fleetwood Mac song...Stevie also had a lot of extra songs in the '80's FM probably could have recorded ...Blue lamp...Sleeping Angel...Violet And Blue...Battle Of The Dragon...Gold And Braid just to name a few...If they had only dared to step a little bit out side the box...

I am confident that these particular details have not emanated from those involved in the Nashville recording sessions.

PS Michele, I've also wondered about whether Sharon and Lori have been present for these sessions, but suspect that their contributions might come later. It's great to think this album will be knocked out at full pelt and then released, but I suspect major tweaking/re-writing and (three-part) vocal harmonies will come into play further down the road.

Now that we know there are 15 songs recorded and counting, I wonder how many of them will be vault songs? Has Stevie ever stated whether there are any vault songs she'd like to record and release? I'd love to get The Dealer, All The Beautiful Worlds (which I believe she recorded for SYW), If You Were My Love, and Julia.

First of all, If, and that's a big IF, FM had recorded "Edge Of Seventeen", there is no way they would have allowed the song to have a running time of 5:28, they would've butchered her verses and the song wouldn't be as epic as it is. Secondly, it most definitely wouldn't have been as rockin' & awesome as it was on "Bella Donna", considering the light pop (50-era inspired) production of "Mirage". Also, EO17 is perfection as it is, I don't think Lindsey would have known what to do with that song, or improved upon it.
And I'm sure you know this, but "Rooms On Fire" was written after TITN was in the can.

There seems to be this assumption that Dave came up with all the melodies on their IYD collaborations. Yes, he certainly lead her by launching into chord progressions, but she sang along, as she has said in a sing song-y (melodic) way, based on what he was playing. If you watch the IYD doc, while they are writing "You May Be the One", Stevie is singing her poem floating a melody (which is very similar) to what ended up being the melody of the final song. Remember Dave is credited with music, Stevie with lyrics, somewhere in between they both contributed to melody & probably Stevie shaped that more often than Dave, jsut by the simple fact these were her lyrics/poems that had to fit within the meter of what he was playing. It's ludicurious to believe it's black and white. Songwriting, like any other art is not black and white.

The band further says "Following this round of recording, the album will be shelved while they gear up for the new tour, which opens Sept. 30 "
So it looks like FM is stirring the pot, trying to generate more drama directed at Stevie just like Mick did when Stevie started with "IYD"

Now that FM is doing interviews I suspect it won't be long before Stevie does the same...

EXCELLENT points especially on the fact they were offered Joan of arc and went with wasamattababy instead

And Stevie's mirage songs are some of her best material. That's alright is FAR better then after the glitter fades, the comparable country song from Bella Donna. straight back is awesome. Basically a shorter sisters of the moon. And gypsy is well gypsy. All fit the flow and feel of mirage.
