Well, they always say that television cameras add ten pounds... so maybe that's the difference.

And, again, I didn't think she looked bad during that performance... just not the best we've seen her.

I'm also glad Lindsey gained a few pounds since then... he looked positively emaciated!

I need to pull my tape out again, as I seem to remember it a little differently than everyone else. I recall Stevie smiling at Wacko Jacko when she noticed him joining them on stage. I didn't see any "daggers" at all.

Though I always marvelled at how enormous his ego must've been, to walk up on stage and purposely stand in-between Stevie & Clinton... knowing full well that he would be in every photo taken, and would be featured prominently on the TV broadcast.

He's a camera whore. He craves publicity and attention like we normal folks crave Chinese food. I watched my tape earlier and she had this gawd-awful look on her face when Jacko came up. Can't say I blame her, it was her gig, not his. Can you imagine him singing Don't Stop?! I cry just thinking of it.

Don't burn me at the stake but in those pictures she does look pretty awful. And I am a huge Stevie fan! I'm just glad that she is healthy and happy about her self now. It was really just her face that looks huge. It is very full. Maybe it is just a bad shot...

GAH! PLEASE DON'T SHOW ME THOSE PICS OF JACKO! Good Gawd... I have a fear of him and that kid from The Excorsist. Gah... As for Stevie, I don't think that's the most flattering pic of her, but she doesn't look awful. Glawbnarggghffff... ::recovering from M.J::

Anywho, where's Chris in those pics? Or am I just uber confuzzled?

Well too, Stevie wrote "Blue Demin" right after this night, so that pretty much gives insight as to why she might have been feeling sort of sad. Lindsey walked in, barely spoke to her and left without saying goodbye. She was no longer in control, and she felt very bad about herself. At the time, to think their relationship was going to end like that must have been awful.

I turned away so he couldn't see
I turned away it could never be
Not you, not me

Oh, that song just kills me......
Nobody likes to see an old flame when they are feeling icky.
Poor Stevie. God, I love her.

So was this before Street Angel? Or was the Clinton thing after Street Angel?

Also, about Blue Denim, that is so sad. I wonder what Lindsey was thinking when he saw Stevie that bloated.

I think her face was so puffed because of the medication. I read in an interview she said:"The drugs psychiatrists prescribe make you fat and miserable". And she's right, I've been on meds for a while now and I'm getting heavier by the minute.

I talked to Lindsey in 1990. Of course this was way before the Clinton performance but back than he was very worried about her. He had performed with Fleetwood Mac in San Francisco and his whole family was there. They were really looking forward to seeing Stevie again, especially his sister in law Eileen because she and Stevie used to be close friends. But when she came in she didn't say a word to any of them. She did ask:"What the f*ck am I doing here? Where the hell are we?". Lindsey said to me:"We all have our moments but Stevie......". He just shook his head, sighed deeply and stared at her picture on the Rumours album (my friend had brought it for him to sign it).
Like most of you I've been a fan since Rhiannon so I lived through all the bad moments but I never left her side and never will.

That story is very telling, Debbie.

I think that around the time of RAL, Stevie's emotional state started to go downhill. She got incredibly depressed and unhappy to the point where she didn't even seem to enjoy the one thing she lived for: being with the fans and bring them joy onstage. Then after detox, she had to go into the making of TITN where I'm sure almost everyone resented her and then she got into an awful tiff with Lindsey. All the while, she was getting addicted to another drug, realizing that she would never marry, never have children, and all of the mistakes in her past were probably weighing heavily on her mind. Then she started to gain weight and saw her career take a dive. I think that from '90 to '94 were her periods of reflection and the things she reflected on were very tragic things and traumatic mistakes. She was so unhappy to the point where she didn't enjoy writing or feel capable of doing so. Then she slowly climbed back up and was higher than ever before, IMO. God bless her, she deserves all the happiness in the world.

I've stuck by her when I felt the music was sub-par, when other criticized her, and when she felt like she couldn't take it anymore. Why? Because of the joy she has brought to my life and the ways she has touched my soul like no one else. She is a remarkable woman, an icon, a legend, and the definition of strong. No one else compares, no one ever will. I'm a fan for life and that will never change.

A year and a half ago I was a size four. I was taking antidepressants for a while in increasing doages to deal with the death of my brother from colon cancer. I'm now a size ten. I continued to work out almost every day during this whole time but still gained weight. I've been off of them since the begining of February. It's unbelievable what they can do to you.
