He seemed to prefer his Martin(s) and Fender(s)
for the studio.

What that tells me is that he prefers their sound
over the Taylor and others. It seems he thought
the Taylor and I'm guessing the Rick Turner guitars
are better for gigging.

Personally I prefer Gibson acoustics. They seem a
little more articulate, not as bass heavy as some of
the Martins. In particular the D-18 and D-28.

Unless you're set on getting a Taylor similar to Lindsey's,
I'd say stay away from the cutaways if you're not going
to play with an amp.
