I think more of the youth would feel the same way if they took the time to listen to this music. I know my teenagers love Fleetwood Mac, but would never admit it to me!

When the others turn you off, who'll be turning you on? I will, I will.

Album That Has Nothing On Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ Wins Grammy Award
NEWS IN BRIEF • Entertainment • Music • ISSUE 50•03 • Jan 26, 2014

LOS ANGELES—Recognized with one of the ceremony’s most coveted awards, an album that doesn’t even begin to stack up to Fleetwood Mac’s quintessential musical achievement Rumours reportedly won Album of the Year at the Grammys on Sunday night. “Wow, what an honor,” said the recipient of the statuette, an individual who sources confirmed could never create anything even remotely on par with what is indisputably the finest and most well-honed artistic statement in rock music, and, furthermore, who isn’t one-tenth the songwriter that Lindsey Buckingham is. “I just [don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the brilliant musicians behind Rumours, a record that since its release has captivated millions with its ingenious yet playful compositions, flawless production, and sheer emotional resonance. The Mac’s 1977 masterpiece is truly without parallel, and modern-day pop acts such as myself can only dream of ever of creating anything that begins to approach its unsurpassed brilliance]. Thank you.” According to ceremony attendees, the presentation of the Best Album award followed the evening’s previous announcement of the winners of Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, not one of whom wrote or played on “You Make Loving Fun.”

Five Great Musical Duos-In-Waiting By Jesse Sendejas Jr. Mon., Feb. 3 2014

Shakira and Trampled by Turtles
Fleetwood Mac, Fleetwood Mac

Before they were rock legends, the founding members of present-day Fleetwood Mac performed with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, so roots-rockers Trampled by Turtles isn't that far a stretch. The track I'd really love to hear them take on from the album is "Landslide"; Dave Simonett would kill, singing lyrics not too distant from the TBT norm.

Among the pantheon of women singers who sound goat-like, it's Stevie Nicks at No. 1 and Shakira a close second. So you are practically getting Nicks, only with a bitchin' accent. As a bonus, we'd get her alternating Nicks' twirls with her own sexy belly-dancing gyrations in the "Rhiannon" video.

• Ever since the bull**** (yes, BULL****) American Horror Story finale, I've been on a serious Fleetwood Mac kick. Which, I don't know why it didn't happen sooner given how much of their music was in the show and that Stevie ****ing Nicks was in it. So. "Silver Springs," an outtake from Rumours, is their best song. Fight me.

[From an article about the Grateful Dead, arrested on Bourbon Street Drug Raid in 1970]

http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/..._pin_a_lo.html

Rolling Stone magazine picked up the news of the arrests and their aftermath with a piece titled "New Orleans Cops & the Dead Bust," the cover story for its issue of March 7, 1970. It made reference, in fact, to The Times-Picayune's coverage: "'King of Acid arrested,' the local press bubbled."

The piece noted that the band played a third night at the Warehouse, with Fleetwood Mac, which became a benefit concert for a "bust fund for both themselves and out-of-town bands." (The Rolling Stone story reported that the Dead had spent the take from the first gig of their Warehouse stand posting bail for the 19 arrested.)
