If any of this is true (I'm skeptical), management could be trying to prepare something official, rather than a passing comment on FB. But Live Nation would be the ones making any official announcement since they are ultimately responsible for the tour.

On the heels of the John McVie death rumors from yesterday, this is probably also untrue.

yes, i believe that was one of the speculations - that someone jumped the gun on FB before all the ducks for LN etc announcements were put in a row.

if true, it would be good to put their ducks in a row fast, and if the page was hacked, let people know fast too. but extrapolating from LB UK/Ire tour cancellation events in 2011, LN / PR are all off for the weekend and will not issue anything till Monday.

hope it's not true.

You would think that when the post about John was taken down they would have at least said something about being "hacked" and that everyone was alright and the tour was still on...

You and I are thinking alike, Daniel. I also want to think that Christine joining the band for some shows could be explained by bad news of this kind. I really hope it's not true and so will reserve further comment until we know for sure.

What terrible news to start the day. I really hope it's not true, but a hoax seems like a strange explanation to me. I hope Live Nation can give us some info sooner rather than later.

There was no word on John's disease or cancellation at the troubled Amsterdam-show...

I hope it's not true but it's weird that they didn't say anything about their FB page being hacked. Also, in the videos that Desheere posted I think he looks sick. I guess we'll have to play the waiting game. Here's to hoping it's a bad, bad rumor

Hmm. Seems the news might be true then, and whoever posted it on the band's page simply did so too soon.

Rumours NZ Fleetwood Mac concerts cancelled

Rumours are flying that Fleetwood Mac has cancelled its upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Comments on Twitter and Facebook this morning claimed the shows had been canceled due to the health of John McVie, who had been scheduled to undergo cancer treatment at the time of the tour.

"We are sorry to be unable to play these Australian and New Zealand dates. We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family the very best," a tweet said.

However, the comments were later removed and there has been speculation someone had hacked the band's official social media accounts.

The band has just finished a European tour and was due to perform in Australia before arriving in Auckland for three shows from December 4.

A press release from the concert's promoter is due out this afternoon.

It's kind of pathetic that the media get their news from FB and Twitter (like the rest of us), rather than doing their own investigative research (i.e. make some phone calls, damn it!).
