The way that I met Greg Ginn was through his younger sister, Erica, while I was working at this record store, Rubicon, on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach in 1975. The gentleman who owned the record store, Michael, had a mad crush on Erica. So Greg Ginn would walk down to the record store with his sister—and Erica and Michael would go off to do whatever young lovers do—hold hands and watch the seagulls fly or the surfers on Hermosa Beach. You know, they’d get lunch or beer or cigarettes, and I would be left to run the record store while Greg Ginn hung around, waiting for his sister.

They were always playing Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles and the first three Springsteen records and Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in the record store, and I wasn’t real excited about listening to them. What was happening, as this music was being played, was the seeds of my musical rebellion were starting to come to fruition.

Quite simply, the presence of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie was what separated the men from the boys ... If Mac also 'aged' more gracefully, it was because the music it made came from the real-life drama of its romantic relationships, while the songs of the Eagles seemed by comparison to come from loners, not-so-young men acting like teenage boys still on the sexual make."

Wow, not so mild this article. But in my opinion it's true that Eagles, a great band, is a bit overrated. It's a questions that personally stands right for two factors: musical offer and success. But that is the good thing of music: in some ways is pretty subjective.

I never saw that men's shirt before. It looks to me like her face and neck were photoshopped onto someone else's body. Something just doesn't look right here.

Yes, not a mild article. It is very bias. I love the Eagles; I also love Fleetwood Mac - but personally? The Mac will beat them every time for me, not necessarily because the music is better. But just because there is a larger back-catalogue of Fleetwood Mac tracks than there is for the Eagles. Eagles have produced one double album this century called Long Road out of Eden, and a live album in 1994 or thereabouts called Hell Freezes Over (playing on the fact that they had a reunion after 25 years apart musically/professionally).

So why would I go for a boring blokey band like the Eagles when their songs are so ... few and far between...albeit most Eagles songs I really like...

I like Fleetwood Mac because there are women in the band, and I like that band chemistry/dynamic. Also a contralto singer and an alto singer - Stevie and Christine - sound very good together when harmonising. Stevie's voice is very deep for a female. Christine's is moderately high, not soprano but still very beautiful. My own voice sounds like a boring baritone to me

Yes, their vocal harmonising is magnificent. I like the attention given to the vocal parts, in every single part: for example their choruses were not so bland, boring, but perfectly made.
Stevie's voice was getting deeper after Tusk I guess, vocal stress and many, many factors.

Ten years after Warren Zevon's death, we still find the singer-songwriter underrated – and fascinating. For proof, we offer ten unmatchable facts about the life and career of the man who deadpanned his way through "Werewolves of London" and other classics.

1. Zevon wasn't born into a musical family. In fact, his dad was a bookie, and one of his most notorious customers was mobster Mickey Cohen.

2. Zevon himself was musical from a young age. By 13, His junior high school band teacher introduced him to Igor Stravinsky, who encouraged his interest in classical music. At 16, Zevon quit school and ran away to become a folk singer.

3. Before his solo career took off, Zevon wrote songs for The Turtles and toured as keyboard player for The Everly Brothers.

4. Zevon once roomed with future Fleetwood Mac members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham – before any of the three were famous.

5. BBC Radio 2 listeners rated the opening line of "Werewolves of London" the best opening song lyric of all time: "I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand, walkin' through the streets of Soho in the rain …"
