I've always felt they were like sister and brother personally and wrote the best music of FM. They spent a lot of time on Tusk, Mirage, and TITN together. Their vocals together are amazing, the co-writes are creative, and the overall sound they produce is wonderful.

The world could use more Buckingham/McVie and less Buckingham/Nicks.

Exactly. They are so ridiculously compatible with each other musically, and it shows in their work. Wish they would record something in the present time because both of them now have this rich, aged tone in their voices which can be a really great blend today. Tango in the Night is especially a very fruitful album for this pair.

I would be interested to see how the Buckingham/McVie collaborative process differs from B/N. I doubt there would be any "You wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan" exchanges, but I'd imagine potential points of conflict being between what's "good" and "good enough" in each track's development.

With Lindsey and Christine on the polar opposite ends of the "traditional vs. experimental" spectrum, there is bound to be conflict. They're also both notorious perfectionists, which means they would probably take a long time to polish one track.

Yes, I think along those lines. Lindsey said something like their formative years taking them down the same path (parallel lines) even before they ever met and I feel that. Of course, I go a little off the deep end when I think of things like that and when he says that his mother signed him up for piano lessons and he wasn't interested I think to myself, "well, that's because you didn't have to be. There was already a piano out there for you, somewhere."

John once said, of all of them, that they were like sisters and brothers, a family, even if they don't see each other often, and it sounds like one of those polite things that a band member might say, but I actually took him at his word and believe that as a valid description.

And I don't even mean that in the lovey dovey way, but more in the inexorable, "I'm stuck with you, like it or not" kind of way. That person is always going to be part of my identity, even if they're kooky and maddening and my feelings for them are unconditional -- even if I'd like to hate them.

As for Stevie/Lindsey v. Lindsey/Christine, I'm very much a prodigal son type of person. I want most, what's lost. I've lost Christine and I want her back to feel whole. So, I kill the fatted calf for her and of Stevie and Lindsey I just think, "Oh them. They've already eaten."

But I love Stevie and Lindsey together very, very much. I just really prefer the 5 of them over Stevie, Lindsey, John and Mick any day of the week.

Yes, all 5 of them is better than four of them with one missing. Though I do wonder what would happen with a Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham lineup though.

I agree.. that magic is less potent with just 4... and we've eaten the SN/LB meals over and over (pun intended)... time to have LB/CM or CM/SN with our potatoes..
