Is it messed up that I want Stevie and Lindsey to have had sex during the dance? Does anyone else feel that way? Or at least a hook up...my tortured soul just wants to know what really happened!
btw I am a new ledgie. Hi to everyone and can't wait to chat with all you guys! ![]() |

I think fans have been asking this question for about 16 years now with no answer. So again, you will have to wait for Stevie's book that may or my not come out in the next 10-15 years. ![]() |

It's not weird, but personally it doesn't matter to me. I can tell just the way they interact on stage that they really do love each other, but these days as great old friends and professional associates. We know that they would most likely have had sex when they were indeed together in the late sixties and early seventies for that nigh-on 10 year romantic relationship. I just love the music and to me, if it is just an act - props to them for being great performers really. But I do think as Mick has been saying a lot lately in press interviews, it's a group of people which adored each other. They fought but they always adored each other - Stevie, Lindsey, Mick, John and let's not forget, Chris.

Some people on here seem to think I'm a frootloop! I just wanted to clear up I'm not, in general. Furthermore, I want to clear up that I doubt I'll ever meet Stevie or Lindsey in person. Also, I don't care about their love/sex lives and I don't think about it a whole lot because it's simply not that interesting to me. The thing is the songs are beautiful, not all Mac songs are great - but at least there are more hits than misses. And I loved Say You Will. Thought it was wonderful. Yes it did sound somewhat schizophrenic to me too as I've read or heard other people say, somewhere or other. Schizo just meaning the bridge of Christine's voice and playing was missing. But we have In the Meantime from the same era, and that solo record was just gorgeous. To me, if Stevie wants to go do 1 more solo album, or 2 or 3 and never record with Fleetwood Mac again I wouldn't blame her: life is short and In Your Dreams her latest was amazing. She finally "got" that she doesn't have to always rock out and that some quite, reflection really suits her voice now.
These musicians are just people...they have their own lives that outsiders don't know about, but don't we all? I think to say you live a life with anyone but your family (blood/love) that is completely open-book is probably not quite honest. My life is not an open book, for one. There is a lot I internalise and I wish I had a voice like Stevie Nicks to let my writing be free...to give it life. But I'm a man with a lowish voice and not much confidence to do anything musical.. Anyway I'm going to stop before I get one of those dreadful "thanks for sharing" type of comments. James |

To Nicole: Thanks for these enlightening songs and pieces of information.
I agree that Lindsey talks about closure but did not appear to have truly accepted in his heart of hearts that in 1987 when he wrote it that he had closure (as he said in the concert footage - Live in Boston 2003). It appears they do have closure now so I'm happy for Stevie and Lindsey as people, and as musicians that they are still working sending the dreams out and letting us catch them (in Stevie speak ).I do sometimes wonder, though only occasionally - how true Stevie's story about not being online is. I'm sure her friends tell her things they read and I think she gets very easily upset even in 2013. And I know many 65 year olds are just ...very competent in Internet usage. Nicole, closure is about two people accepting something. Not just one - ie Lindsey. Yeah Stevie rejected him during the making of Rumours, but she has quite openly had some feelings for him since then. You would simply get bored of writing song-after-song and so on about each other if there was nothing there. I write poetry and lyrics (occasionally piano too) and I write about things from 2009 and 2010. I write about things from 2012 and 2013. Time is an ever changing beast, and entirely dependent on a person's concept of it. Also just because you write about something that happened 3 or 4 years ago it does not mean you are stuck in the past. Writing actually helps you come to terms with these things. Note, Other animals don't wear watches as you would be well aware haha Time is a very human thing. As we say it heals all wounds.James |

"This is a song I wrote about Stevie maybe 10 years ago and, uh, it's about closure. As much as the (?) dialogue between the two of us can be *laughs* (?) and I think we're still trying to find it, right? (?) Or maybe we're not. I don't know. Anyway, it's incredible after all this time that there (?) seem to be a few chapters here between these two people. I don't understand. *laughs*" Okay, so first of all Lindsey, you wrote this in 1987 according to other tours... Also, you were writing about getting closure in your r'ship with Stevie back in 1987 but thought it's time was right in 2003 and yet you STILL think you guys are trying to find that closure in 2013? Except NOT. Because 'MAYBE WE'RE NOT. I DON'T KNOW'. UM, WTF? So, you don't think you ever found that closure and perhaps you're not even bothering to try and get that closure anymore? Just saying. And now it's not about closure anymore - it's more forward looking and more relationship positive. And yes, the dreams motif certainly hasn't, um, gone away over the years. To be honest, particularly with Lindsey, it seems to be on the increase. Quote:
“No. Lindsey and I and our tragic, uptight way of doing things to each other is still the same in so many ways. In many, many ways. Lindsey and I are still the same people that we were when we met at 16 and 17. There’s a part of our relationship that remains unchanged. It doesn’t matter that he’s married with kids. It doesn’t matter what my life is. When we’re together we can still be incredibly teenage. And we still write about each other a lot. We’re still great sources of inspiration for each other. When we’re 90, whoever goes first, the other one will be sitting on a bed alone. We’ll never run out of stuff to write about.” Yes, they still seem to have PLENTY to write about. And certainly not just about that initial break-up and the short-term effects of it. Both The Dance and SYW times certainly provided them with some new material, unsurprisingly... I certainly understand what you mean. Writing emotions out can definitely be of help and also I think lyrics (particularly for Lindsey, who LOVES to compartmentalise) are a space or even 'the' space - along with onstage - where he CAN express those 'residual' feelings and emotions and 'dreams', if you will. "Music is a means of expression that rings truer and is more connected to things inside than speech." (Lindsey Buckingham, 1992) I'm not saying either of them are necessarily stuck in the past but that, for two people who like to say 'no regrets', 'it was destiny and I'm cool with it' type things they both have an interesting way of expressing that, particularly Lindsey (and Stevie's 'can't be an artist/and have kids etc and I made that choice' always fascinates me when contrasting it with the way she ALWAYS talks about their parallel life/endgame possible goal - marriage, music AND kids). He may be more 'inspired' than he's ever been as many folks like to say but looking at a lot of lyrics, I wouldn't say it's exactly a forward-looking kind of inspiration a lot of the time. There's a lot of a longing and a lot of dreaming (and oceans, and walls, and fires, lines to be crossed, and saving etc) for someone who's meant to have gotten closure a long time ago. And time does heal all wounds, so they say. So it's always a pity when Stevie and Lindsey just insist on creating NEW wounds for themselves each time they get back together (in a manner of speaking). ![]() |

Just a little bit! The album would have been better without Stevie. Not that Lindsey's work on there is stellar, it's just much better than hers. |

And yes, why oh why if Lindsey has had so much "closure" does he continue to write songs with lyrics like "Hello, hello sad angel, have you come to fight the war?" One could take the extreme view that they both have a secret child/possibly marriage but that would be silly. They are two people for whom the "barriers of time" (Stevie Nicks) got in the way. A true testament to how difficult work relationships can be. But also - a way of showing how it can be done. 40 years since Buckingham Nicks. Even longer since Linds and his friends' band Fritz. And I think their work has kept them young now that they have learnt to focus on work/music rather than partying (Ledgies all know about cocaine and cannabis usage of those days: all of the band Fleetwood Mac were doing it in the 1970s and 1980s). I would also like to add, that we sometimes forget as fans that drugs have that lasting effect on your mental health - it's easy to think oh Stevie, Lindsey, Mick and John are all fine now. But I would say their mental health has most definitely being effected at least in some small way, especially adding in all the drinking and smoking (tobacco). We have to take that step back and remember, yeah, these are great songs. The band members are having a great time on stage. They appear to getting along really well. But then ...what happens backstage? What happens when they go home to their individual hotels? It would be a difficult life I think. One that affords money and privilege but also lack of privacy (particularly in USA and Canada, less so in UK, also in Australia) |
