When Lindsey was, repeatedly, saying in 2009 that she 'burned her bridges' after The Dance (complete with an intriguing and ambiguous smirk) I got the feeling that the two of them may have fallen out at the time, and that time had cooled whatever the argument was.

I'm not saying this was the only reason: we all know she didn't want to tour any longer and that she hated flying; we know that she was homesick and hated the earthquakes when she lived in California; we know that her marriage was breaking down.

But maybe a post-Grammy's argument was the straw that broke the camel's back? It would sort of thread together all the different stories you hear about *when* Christine said she was leaving. She said she told them all it would be her last tour before they set out; Stevie, I seem to remember, said at one stage that it was about 20 dates into the tour; Mick said something similar; other versions have said it was after the last night of the tour, others that it happened after the Brit Awards. Maybe it was a slow drip-drip of all of these, leading to a flashpoint after the Grammys?

I don't understand this. So Lindsey got upset about losing at the Grammys.....what does this have to do with Christine? Why would it be such a sticking point for her? Is Lindsey not supposed to or allowed to get upset about things?

I think, as people are saying in another thread, he may have had a hissy fit about not winning and with all her worries and troubles that pushed her over the edge. She maybe told him to shut up and put things in perspective. I would have.

In fact, I do think there was a weirdness between them post-Dance. In 2003 I remember reading that Mick, Stevie, John and the boys' spouses had gone to Christine's for dinner. I don't think Lindsey went. Read into that what you will, if it's true.

We're totally speculating of course. It's all water under the bridge now.

I read that the whole band went over to Christine's for dinner when they toured there in 2003. No names were specified in any interviews I saw as to who exactly went and who didn't. Mick just spoke in plural, the same way he did when he caught up with Christine a few years later during his solo tour.

That's about all she said that she had the music for one and he had the music for the other. She didn't specify which song was which.

It wasn't a documentary. It was informal audio tapes that Mick made of the band when they were riding in a limosine. They have circulated among the fans. Stevie was probably high at the time. You've seen the Warner Bros. clips where they are supposed to say Happy Birthday and she was clowning around, right? Well, that's all she was doing in this limo tape. She was saying why was Lindsey singing on Christine's song and she told Christine it was over between them, but she was just talking nonsense, saying all kinds of things like Mick has ugly shoes and who knows what.

My point was that it showed me that Christine made songs that did not necessarily start off as duets into them and I think she must have liked the effect. Obviously, when you have men and women in a band, you want to have male/female love songs, so that's natural. But she has said that she and Lindsey get such an interesting sound together and I think she has noticed what fans have, when they sing together: sometimes you can't tell the two apart. Plus, their different styles make the song more complex, which is what I think happens on Hold Me and Think About Me, in particular.

Well, Hold Me is entirely different, because Lindsey's hand in the production of that song is very strong, aside from his vocal.

I know, it would be illogical, if Stevie had said that's what happened, but Stevie's truncated comments can't even lead to the reasonable conclusion that she actually said that is what happened.

To Matt Lucas,

I think this is on Youtube, you can find it. Look under limo conversations. But this is what we can hear them saying.

Christine: Anyway, you gotta listen to this it's uh...
Stevie: Of Lindsey singing Hold Me?
Christine:Lindsey singing Hold Me...
Stevie:I'll never forgive you if you let Lindsey sing one of your songs and not me.
Christine: No, no. The thing is he's gonna sing it, and I'm gonna sing it longer.
Stevie: That's it! It's over!
Christine: No, no, no, Stevie.
Stevie: You heard it [she starts singing) It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over like it never was before.
Christine: No, Stevie. I've got a song for you. You've got a song for me. Lindsey"s got a song for me. Lindsey's got a song for you. You have a song for Lindsey.
Stevie:They got a song for us.
Man: This has totally destroyed my decision.
Stevie: Does anybody got any pot?

I just listened to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtAapDMZstc
It was hilarious. They sound like little kids, Stevie whining her ass off. I didn't catch your transcript above. Maybe that's from a different one?

Boy is Stevie out of it: "I love graveyards and we sure are running into a lot of them. Lindsey loves graveyards." Stevie when Christine said someone left her room at 5:00 a.m.: "Why wasn't I there? You should call me up. I was bored stiff. I was laying in my bed watching television."

Mick is basically frustrated with Stevie the entire time: "Yes you did! That means you definitely are out to lunch. Oh for goodness sake...Let me finish! ...It's impossible, she won't stop." And a great one: "No, I will not turn the tape off!"

Christine: "I'm halfway to being drunk."

Ok I really need to find this conversation. The only one I find is the one where they are talking about graveyards. I will keep looking.

The last part of this dialogue makes me giggle.. oh goodness, Stevie.
