iTunes does not sell MP3s. They sell AAC files, which are a proprietary Apple file type. You know those YouTube uploads are usually far worse quality than what you'd get from iTunes. Just saying.

Either way, I'd prefer a physical release as well, but only because I'd want it in my collection. I buy music in many formats, but for some artists I prefer hard copies.

really? i thought apple ones are actually more compressed / worse sounding... considering we are dissecting in details here

i can never claim that i can hear subtle differences that someone like Peestie could, for example. i can hear differences between different formats sometimes, but not always... maybe b/c the best sound system i have for listening this stuff is in my car

i don't have a record player (or it's somewhere in the shed), and i have crappy CD player. CDs sound much better in my car. if i want CDs for my car (as opposed to listening through my phone over car speakers), i make them. over computer speakers of course everything will sound horrible, even i can hear that.

I beg to differ. I don't buy anything from iTunes because I don't like Apple's restrictive policies, but AAC is still better than any MP3 format out there.

Call me crazy, but I'm a bit UNDERWHELMED by the whole "effort" (or lack thereof). I have WORSHIPPED Fleetwood Mac since 1977. I have bought EVERYTHING they've ever done and attended EVERY TOUR (and ALL solo member tours, including Chris McVie's only solo tour in 1984). But, I'm on the verge of losing interest.

Artists like Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty have made some of the best music of their careers after the age of 50 or 60. NOTE TO FLEETWOOD MAC: You can still saving this sinking vessel. Get Christine McVie to give up gardening and come back ONE MORE TIME. Hire an amazing producer like Rick Rubin, Ethan Johns, Mitchell Fromme or T-Bone Burnett and get back into the studio to make the greatest ART of your life (like you once did with "RUMOURS" and "TUSK, two of the greatest masterpieces in music history). Who gives a crap about TOP 40 hits or record sales? It's not going to happen anyway. Do you think Dylan and Springsteen are sitting around worrying about getting a TOP 40 RADIO HIT in 2013's market? Then, go out on the road with a revamped show (including the new music) and become ARTISTS again. You might even get critical acclaim and win a GRAMMY.......(RESPECT???)

BUT, I guess you're too busy trying to fill corporate rock arenas with the same tired casual fans and the same set list you've been playing for years. I did enjoy "SAY YOU WILL". While not perfect, it was a FINE EFFORT and you at least tried something different. Keep moving in that direction and I'll be the first to jump on board. For the first time in 35 years, I am considering NOT attending a Fleetwood Mac Tour. Why would I shell out 300 dollars plus parking and 15 dollar drinks to see the same show that I've been watching for years just to keep Mick from going broke for the 10th time. It seems to me that you're not really concerned with exploring the artistic future of this band, but rather just biding time to fill your retirement accounts. If not with the band, let Stevie and Lindsey go back to solo projects where THEY DO try to make some new and interesting art (SEEDS WE SOW & IN YOUR DREAMS). case closed

Great post and I agree with all of it except the description of SOTM on the current tour as "remarkable".I have been a fan the same amount of time and have no problem sitting this one out.

Totally agree. Unfortunately, this kind of reasoning falls on deaf ears unless the tour were a flop. And if it were, well, they would just take it as FM is over, and give up. Let's face it, FM for all intents and purposes IS OVER. I'd rather get solo music at this point, anyway.

Amazing observation, I'd just like to add Paul Simon to your list of musicians who've remained productive in the dawn of their careers. I think if the band all volunteered to record close to where Christine lives, she might do it. She probably is done touring but I think she might enjoy being around her old bandmates once again.

I've been jokingly referring to this tour as "The 1% Tour" because only the top one percent can afford tix.

Yeah, and unfortunatley the joke is on us! Both Stevie & Lindsey were spouting off in interviews late last year into early this year that they would "throw out" the newly recorded songs on the internet sometime before the tour began And Lindsey has been saying for the last 2 weeks that the EP will be released "any day now"!! Approval for artwork my ass, all & any details should have been completed months ago. These 3 or 4 newly recorded songs have been in the can since last November. There is no excuse.

The New Order frontman explained that, following the reassembly of the band in 2011; they plan to remain active both on the road and in the studio.

"What we want to do, is keep a presence and just go away for a bit -- like for example, when we finish this small West Coast tour and South American tour, we are gonna go back and we've got two months to do some writing. Then we go to Russia, Istanbul, and then we do a bit more writing and then we come back and play in the UK and then we come back and play the East Coast and America."

The idea, according to Sumner, is to keep up the presence of the band, rather than slide off the radar. "We've never tried it before," added.

Sumner says the new recording projects will follow a different direction than past releases. "We're going to focus on a couple of tracks at a time. We're not doing a whole album – not the way we used to," added keyboardist/guitarist Gillian Gilbert, citing the reason for the new direction as a chance to provide the band with an opportunity to balance touring with providing fans with new music. "Instead of going away for two years and writing a record and coming back, we're going to do it this way so we still have time to carry on the tour while putting stuff out. We don't want to give up touring, but we don't want to give up writing."

Sumner and his bandmates are in the process of nailing down how they want to handle the release. "We're thinking about doing about 4 songs at once. We're still debating but I think what we're going to try and do is a series of EPs then we'll probably put them together as an album," he said.

One of my favorite bands, Drivin' n' Cryin', try to put out an EP every three months. They've managed to do that three in a row, the last 10 months with a delay of maybe 4 weeks. And those EP's are gorgeous, everytime they set up a theme in style. Songs From The Laundromat is typical for what they've done for many years (alt. Countryrock), Songs about Cars, Space and The Ramones is all about their punkrockroots, and Songs from the psychedelic timeclock speaks for itself. Wonderful gutsy and short powerhouses. Everyone of them.
