Mick definitely has something planned, but he shouldn't push it too hard. Concentrate on getting Christine to sing and record and don't push the stage thing yet. It will only make her pull away.
Lindsey, please be your most charming. I mean it. Michele |

Hi Everyone! Can I make my very first post about my dream opening? (Be gentle, I'm new) It would be this:
About 10 minutes before coming on stage they pipe through the speakers: The Chain (original Demo) Crystal (FM version with LB singing) and then the curtains open and the first live song is Fireflies followed by the usual version of The Chain after which they just rock the house down for the rest of the set. Why? Because the original demo of The Chain shows the love, Crystal shows the vision, Fireflies is about survival, FM version of The Chain is about commitment to each other and then the rest of the set shows what they have done over the years. |

One encouraging sign is that Christine's not dumb. She might not fulfill all or any of Mick's hopes, but if she wasn't down for something, then she wouldn't even come here. If she just wanted to see their grubby faces, she could wait until September when they will already be in her neck of the woods.
If she is flying, it's because she plans to do more than visit, even though I am pretty sure she doesn't have touring in mind AT ALL. Of course, as Elle said in another thread, Mick may even have jumped the gun in saying that she'll go to Hawaii. That may not be concrete yet. We have to make sure she gets on the plane first, before we can really know it's not all just speculation on his part. Michele |

What song would Fleetwood Mac NEVER do without a little fan push?

I'm trying to envision what lies ahead for Christine: an 11 hour flight, with Mick holding her hand the entire time. Is that comforting? And even if it is, I'm not sure it's an adequate substitute for the liquor she used to have on hand in the past.

I'm cracking up thinking of the song choice that Fleetwood Mac would give for a web vote.
Lindsey: "Okay, so we do this web vote thing where you get to pick the song!!!" Stevie: (3 minute diatribe about how she doesn't even know how to spell computer, and has never seen an iPad, etc) Lindsey: "Let's see what song we will be doing tonight............Never Going Back Again, no, Gypsy, no, Don't Stop, nah, we'll do that one later anyway, and the winner is--Sara!!!!!!!!!!" Stevie: "Oh wow, ahahahahah, I hope I remember how that one goes, ahahahaha" Sorry, I think it's cool that Mick is even bringing this type of thing up...having a fan choice song would be neat, but I can't see them doing this in the same manner that the Springsteen does with E Street Band. They just grab a sign out of the audience from fans and spend a minute figuring out the keys and then letting it rip. If the Mac does this, it would be more in line with how the Stones did it in '97-'98 (and for the 5 anniversary shows last year)....here's a finite list of songs and you can vote for which you want to hear. There have always been rumors that the web votes on the Stones' Bridges to Babylon Tour were rigged anyway. |

Poor Christine. She should take a very heavy sedative. I'd prefer that to 11 hours of Mick, god bless him, cutting my circulation off in First Class. ![]()

Since leaving Fleetwood Mac in 1998, Christine McVie has stayed close with the band, but refused all attempts to rejoin the group, largely due to her fear of flying. However, that might be changing. In a new interview, titular drummer Mick Fleetwood said that he is doing his best to lure her back into the fold for their upcoming tour.
“I’m seeing Chris here in London before I leave,” he told the English tabloid the Sun. “And even though she loathes flying and she’s never been back to the United States since the day she left, she is getting on a plane and flying to Hawaii with me. I’m going to hold her hand all the way, even if I have to handcuff it.” This contradicts McVie’s own words from last month, where the keyboardist/singer said she was content to be out of the spotlight. And both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, independently of each other, admitted that her return was unlikely, but Fleetwood is hoping that being around her old bandmates will rekindle the desire to get back on stage with them. “She’s going to come and stay for three weeks in Maui,” he continued. “I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it. John’s going to come over from Honolulu to see her and then she’s going to L.A. to see Stevie, who misses her terribly and is really excited to see her. But it’ll be her decision. But we’d make her very welcome if she wanted to creep on that stage again.” Even if McVie decides against a return to the road, she will have the opportunity to see them. The band announced five shows today (Feb. 4) in the U.K. and Ireland in September and October, with tickets going on sale Saturday (Feb. 8). http://ultimateclassicrock.com/mick-...fleetwood-mac/

I'm glad she's getting out of the house. It makes me sad to think of her shutting herself off from the world and letting her choices be driven by fear. This visit is definitely a step in the right direction.
Will it lead to her rejoining the group? I highly doubt it, although I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong. |

So, did Christine just not tell the others that she was in New York to promote her solo album in 2004?! ![]()

Haha, I thought the same thing. Wasn't that VH1 interview in NY in 2004?

Yep! And she appeared on another show, I think, as well as a few US radio programmes.
