It also made me think of the game most musicians play at some point (usually when they're bored out of their everloving minds)—they turn a minor song major, or a major song minor. It's a garage band's parlour game.

"By my count, we’ve now heard about a third of the forthcoming indie-rock Fleetwood Mac tribute Just Tell Me That You Want Me, and the tracks just keep on coming. Today, we get the Kills covering the iconic “Dreams.” I think Alison Mosshart is an excellent stand-in for Stevie Nicks, although the Kills’ raw minimalism is a stark contrast to the Mac’s robust studio instrumentation. Check it out below."

LISTENING BOOTH: MATT SWEENEY AND BONNIE (PRINCE) BILLY COVER FLEETWOOD MAC
Posted by The New Yorker "Fleetwood Mac is firmly cemented as an influence on today’s pop music, not just the band’s late-seventies to early-eighties glory period but the blues-rock that preceded it and the A.O.R. that followed. Next month, “Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac” will collect Mac covers from artists like Lee Ranaldo and J Mascis, Lykke Li, the Kills, and MGMT. One of the most hypnotic tracks on the tribute is “Storms,” which originally appeared on the gnomic 1981 album “Tusk” and is covered here by Matt Sweeney and Bonnie (Prince) Billy. We are pleased to offer this exclusive preview of that song." http://www.newyorker.com/online/blog...twood-mac.html |

Storms is lovely. Not as good as the original (hardly a surprise) but I'm a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy fan and think this is good. It perhaps gets a bit busy at times but I think it portrays some of the emotion. Of course, portraying the kind of emotion in Storms is something BPB has spent his career doing.

^^^ I don't love it, I'm just not a big fan of Marianne Faithfull's voice, but I do like it. The first half is actually not that differrent from the original, the second half is quite different but still has the same "feel" as the original, imo.

Really love "Storms" and "Angel," especially "Angel." I think the performers in both cases find genuine emotion in the songs. And of course that's a huge part of what makes Stevie's songs so special.

I love this cover of Angel! That and Think About Me are the only ones I really care for and might want to listen to, repeatedly.
