huh? what do you call a non-advertised tour with just him and his guitar? no band, no GYOW, just him.

although i do wish he'd at least put it on his web site that he's doing a tour in a month.

yeah that was the plan, and that's what Mick seems to be trying to say - plans keep changing and he's tired of it.

the way i see this - any publicity is good publicity!

fleetwood mac related article in playboy is good. parts of it have been picked up by bunch of other media... people have been discussing it here and in other social media in multiple threads for days with the slow leak. stevie's solo tour is getting the publicity (how many real solo dates does she have? he's actually giving her the credit of doing her tour solo for pure reasons - meanwhile she's doing cashgrab with RS and making more than she would with FM).

Fair point. I don't keep up with LB's solo career, so yes, I could well be making a generalisation that doesn't hold up in detail. I do agree that with SWS he does seem to be finally beginning to show some signs of putting his money where his mouth is. But will YOU agree that it's been a long time coming, and that it's impossible to rule out that it's only come about now because the industry has made it the only way for an act like his to carry on?

i think he turned the corner after SYW and in the course of making UTS - so some time in 2004/05. i've been long insisting that's what song Cast Away Dreams on UTS is about (see here for some details http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpo...81&postcount=5 ). he finally stopped worrying about commercial solo success and just started churning albums out and touring for the fun of it.

but now with this no advertising, no connection to FM, etc, he's going a bit too extreme, imo.

How so? Lindsey's walking his own walk no matter what. He almost walked off with the masters to Say You Will when the record company was less than excited about making it a double album. He's not like other people. He does what he wants to.
My response to your point about Lou was that he's never had the commercial success of a Fleetwood Mac and therefore it's just not an apples comparison.
I wanted to say too that good for him on the Susan Boyle thing (nothing against her). It's his art, he created it and he can do what he wants with it. That's integrity.

I'm not sure they could survive the making of another record at this point. I'm serious. But it's a great idea.

My spidey senses are telling me that Mrs. Fleetwood is courting the affections of someone other than her husband. Ouch. It's got to be harsh to be getting a divorce in your mid to late 60's. I really feel for Mick. And because history repeats, Mick wants to immerse himself in Fleetwood Mac because that's how he coped when his marriage to Jenny imploded during the making of Rumours.

They don't have to remake Rumours. But why don't they give making a record with mass market appeal a shot?

I'm sorry Mick but you should be grateful and happy that Stevie has hung around as long as she has.

Didn't he do that with Out Of The Cradle though? I think he took a pretty good financial hit on that record and tour.

he did. i said the same thing in my response above.

he's been so under the radar that obviously even most SN fans don't seem to know about any of this stuff...

EDIT: i misread your post. my meaning was not OOTC, but UTS. with OOTC he was hoping for a huge commercial success, which didn't happen. by UTS time, he finally decided not to care about commercial success anymore, and put his money where his mouth is. it's working great for the fans and his eventual legacy. not so much for his checkbook i'm sure, but that's not our problem. they were all lucky to make it huge. he's using his Mac money well for financing his artsy indie solo career.
