You say that Lindsey wants to record a new FM album, but where is the proof? What's stopping he, Mick and John from going into the studio and laying down basic tracks while Stevie is on the road- exactly like they did for SYW? I don't get the sense that Lindsey is too keen on dealing with the other three at the moment. I mean, for chrissakes, he'd rather play ale houses and pubs solo rather than large arenas with the band! And you are totally mistaken when it comes to Stevie's songs on IYD. Yes, they were mostly co-written. But at the end of the day, she wrote or co-wrote every song on that album. No Rolling Stones covers in the bunch! Also, these were mostly new songs written specifically for IYD. I'd say 9-10 out of 14 songs were new. That's unprecedented for a Stevie album. This album is so new, it should have been sold with training wheels! |

Hey one question here.
Why does Stevie only co-write her solo stuff? All her FM contributions she's given sole credit. ![]() Last edited by MrStevie; 03-15-2012 at 08:10 PM.. Reason: sp |

In the IYD's cd jacket it says words by Stevie Nicks music by Dave or Mike. With the Mac it is assumed all music by the band. Secret Love, Soldiers Angel, Moonlight, words and music by Stevie. Everybody Loves You words Dave and Stevie music Dave (fyi)

^ If I'm not mistaken, Stevie's given sole composition credit on all of her Mac stuff sans like Seven Wonders and The Chain and whatnot. The band does not just automatically get writing credit, which is why it is such a big deal for Mick and John to tour and such because they don't get the same amount of royalties.
I think the reason is because Stevie comes up with the chord progression and the melody. Fleetwood Mac 'fills it in' (and I say this somewhat tongue-in-cheek, because it's more like.. makes a complete song around the string of notes that she has). That's why songs like Secret Love, Moonlight, Soldier's Angel, and a plethora of other solo songs in her catalogue are also credited solely to her. Obviously Stevie is not writing bass parts or writing guitar riffs or anything like that, and she never has, she's always just come up with a progression, a tune, lyrics, and some atmosphere for the players to work off of. With Dave, he was the one initially coming up with chord progressions which she would then sort of simultaneously compose a melody over... which is why, along with gratitude for his help, I think, he gets the sole credit for the music. Additionally, people like Mike Campbell or Neale will just send her straight up musical tracks which she then puts lyrics to [or adapts lyrics to] - similar to what went on with Dave, in a sense, only not "live." The music is already complete when she gets it. With Dave it was a living breathing entity that could change or transform along the way to the final product. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. This is just how I've always understood it to work.

My 2 cents? Mick sets himself up for this. He starts passing comments about how FM will tour later in the year, next year etc., without any solid commitment from Stevie and possibly LIndsey. Some news outlet picks it up and then if you do a google search you can find 25 places where they quote Mick as FM to tour again soon to create some false sense of buzz.
So then nothing happens and he blames Stevie and if necessary Lindsey for their lack of loyalty to him and essentially pits them as them as the bad guys for failing to meet the high demand for another GH FM tour...like we are lining up for that. Whatever Mick. Last time I checked the SYW tour ended about a year and a half after being released. So who is he to judge anything the Queen of Rock does, especially touring behind an album that got short changed because of being sick and wait, her own mother being super sick and passing away. Jealous Much Mick? |

but it's a beautiful cover you have to admit! (although ruined when compared to that gorgeous demo)

![]() i thought 10 songs were new? all except SL, Mooonlight and Annabel Lee - although that last one may be new music? if so, 11 new songs. |

I'm surprised that Mick is being so candid, but in the end, Stevie loves him and she's not really inclined to fight with him -- as she is with other people. She'll stay mad with him about as long as she can throw him.
Next month this time he'll probably be giving interviews kissing her feet. I guess what he wants from this passive/agressive commentary is some kind of firm commitment from her for 2013 and I suppose he'll get it. Michele |
