Where is Staples Center from LAX?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get from LAX to Staples Center in an hour at 7pm?

It took me about an hour to get to the old Forum from LAX when I went to the artist rights show. I don't know exactly where Staples is. Anybody know? I think it's in the downtown LA area not as close as the Forum which is in Englewood. Not sure though. Why not check a map at MapQuest.com. It will tell you how close to the airport it is. http://www.mapquest.com

Map Quest is saying 16 mi/20 minutes. But it doesn't account for LA traffic. I hate making these last minute decisions!

Im coming from OC so I take the 5 to the 10 and exit near Staples. Always listen to the radio reports and give plenty of time for traffic in case you need to divert. KNX 1070 AM gives traffic every 7 minutes around the LA area. Its Friday so exect heavier traffic than usual. Id say youd make it though if you left at 7. Im not sure what FWY you take from LAX but I know you start on the 405, maybe to the 10 or 110, not sure. LAX is more near the coastal area, Staples near downtown/skyscrapers. Hope that helps. edit: the Forum to LAX is about 20 mins away via surface streets at max. Staples is closer to downtown.

PS - if there is a bad accident, KNX will give you alternate routes to try/take. ALthough I doubt you will have a Thomas Guide. Its not that far away. Im much further and work till 6 tonight. So Im hauling *ss up the FWY after work! You cant miss the Center itself, its right off the freeway interchange there. You wont go past downtown, its before you go into the core of the skyscrapers (from the direction your coming in). Did you score those 2nd row seats?

PS - the lot @ Staples will run almost $20. If you go a block or so away, you will find the $10 or less lots that are secure.

I tape the shows I see but not at Staples. They have those metal detectors and I cant get my DAT past those cause they also have a no backpack policy. I have a photo pass and a working pass I can take with me for my camera, but the recorder is another subject. If I get a recording of any of the shows I see upcoming, Ill be sure to get you a copy spynote!
