I feel that they are all doing great for where and who they are now. They are working well within their limitations. It's a perspective you obtain after you've had quite a few decades under you belt.

Stevie's voice is fine for who she is now. It's somewhat unfair to compare it to how it sounded twenty, ten, or even five years ago. Age takes it's toll. But she's managed to navigate around it and adjust to that inevitability. I'll still follow her down until the sound of her voice will...

Interesting topic.

Stevie - My favorite vocal period for her was Tusk through Mirage era (with Bella Donna being the zenith for me). She's been hit or miss with me since vocally. I also feel her songwriting has been inconsistent (I thought her SYW material was pretty weak, overall), but I was impressed with IYD. She's settled into this "icon" thing pretty well, and I'm happy to see that.

Lindsey - I feel Lindsey's songwriting is the strongest it's ever been, by leaps and bounds. What would have been the original GOS were his best lyrics, ever. Guitar playing is still great. Vocally, he's slipped a notch. And I'm no singer or music expert, but some of his live vocals sound way off to me.

Christine - Not much to go on here, although she sounded wonderful on ITM.

John - Sounds good to me.

Mick - He's definitely lost something, innovation and what not, though he's still very capable.

Stevie - Her voice is pretty much done. I don't think that fixing the hole in her nose would make any significant difference, but removing the vocal chord nodules might. Years of screaming and drug/booze/cigarettes abuse must have left her with nodules as big as a fist. You can just hear it every time she sings. Her songwriting is as beautiful as always. IYD is an amazing album, and one of the finest in her career.

Lindsey - Vocally, he is right there with Stevie, if not worse. I never liked him that much as a songwriter. I always got that he is a very, VERY nervous person from his songs. As a guitarist he is amazing. The older he gets, the better he plays. No doubt that it's one of the things that still make FM interesting.

Chris - She can sing almost as good as she did 30 years ago, and she can still craft a great pop/rock song. Too bad she doesn't want to do it anymore.

Stevie Nicks: Her voice is pretty much shot. I think plenty of us can agree with that. I used to like her work. But maybe I listened to her too much. Her latest offering of In Your Dreams was anything but. I might have been alone in being completely and utterly disappointed in it. It's a shame because Stevie is the reason I fell for Fleetwood Mac in the first place.

Lindsey Buckingham: After two lack luster offerings in the shape of Gift Of Screws and Under The Skin, Lindsey came back with a vengeance with Seeds We Sow. Though arguably over produced, there's no denying that his voice and guitar work were on top form.

Christine McVie: All I have to go on in recent years is In The Meantime. I wasn't impressed. Although I can't deny that in her time she had a wonderful voice, she never shone for me. Her songs were far too sickly, honied and overly sentimental for my tastes. But she gave the world Songbird. For that alone she stands amongst the greatest of song writers.

Mick Fleetwood: When I got to see the Mac for the first time for their Unleashed tour, Mick Fleetwood was a beast. The energy he emitted was electric, only matched by Lindsey's toddler like "ball of energy" show.

John McVie: As with above, my last experience of Mick Fleetwood was the Unleashed tour. I wasn't disappointed by the melodic undertones provided by his base. I'm not going to pretend to know anybody about the technicalities of the base guitar and performer alike, but he is still very able to cope with providing the soul of the music.

I will only concede UTS and its stone's throw from the grave vocals. Of course, I don't think UTS is excrement by any means, but if we're throwing one to the wolves . . .

Sorry. A couple of songs were good (Including the title track), but aside from those I just never really gelled with it.
