Default What's the most altered song from demo to studio cut?

As mentioned in Cliffdweller's post, Sisters in up there, & Christine mentions Lindsey improving on Dreams a great deal. If we include solo work, Planets comes to mind.
I'm not too familiar with Lindsey's & Christine's demos, but I'm sure many of you are.
Thoughts?

I owuld have to say Sara - the cleaning lady version. I have heard the piano demo which is very much like the finished product in terms of melody, but LB's subtle way shines in that one. Same for Gypsy.

SOTM - though - probably wins for the most altered.

Default I Hate to Repeat Myself But...

Re my thread on the demos... I would have to say either SOTM or Storms. I think that is why those demos are my favorites, they are SOOO different from the final versions.

You're right, I forgot the drab version of Gypsy. I love the angry rocking one that sounds like the Blondie band is backing her, though. Both are really different from the Mirage version.
Bella Donna (outtake) is another song that's really altered, and for the better.

The first song that came to mind is Thrown Down. The TISL version is so different from the album version, and from the wall of sound version.

I love the song in all of its incantations!

Default "Smile At You"

Let's not forget "Smile At You"... If I never heard the "non-angry" demo, I'd
obviously have no opinion on the matter, but now that the "proper"
SYW version is out, I must say I do prefer the "non-angry" demo...
It just has this urgency and is more guitar prominent. I was really looking
forward to seeing this one live, a la the "non-angry" version... I think it
had the potential to be kinda like a "Silver Springs II"... Nevertheless
both are pretty cool
love,
celestenadia

Default Storms

is the most altered one I have. The 16 minute "Storms" is quite different from the version on the album.

wow... no one has mentioned planets of the universe.... i think it is so different from the "no light" demo that they are almost like separate songs!

Does anyone have .mp3 files of the Sara, Planets, and Storms demos? I'd really like to hear them.

Unhappy Altered Studio Cuts!

Lindsey had to change his words on many songs...the
one I dislike most from SYW is his Peacekeeper tune!!!

After having listened to innumerable demos and studio tracks, I have to say that I think Gypsy is the most transformed song, overall. LB has also said it's his best production effort for her..... It really sounds nothing like the demo track, which is so herky-jerky. The final track ( and even the alt mix) is just so smooth and shimmering, and very syncopated - the piano is just a hair off, so is the bass, and the guitar arpeggios at the end are incredible - ever tried to play that?

I have it too, I haven't listened to it in a whie. VERY different from the album version. I just heard the demo for That's Alright, it's really different to me - no country twang at all, more of a rock song. Pretty cool. Paula

The Mac does have a Close To The Edge after all! Does Christine play a lot of rediculous hammond organ solos?
