I posted this earlier on the "Concert Reviews" and thought I would post here just in case anyone missed it.
http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/cgi-bin/...w_oklahomacity "A great time guaranteed for all..." "Let me start off by saying to the people who have said that Stevie was lacking energy on this tour at previous shows do not know what the hell they are talking about. I have never seen her smile so much in concert before, She seemed to be enjoying herself immensely and her energy level was way high for tonite's show...But Lindsey's energy was off the wall. He was the consumate musician tonite, He was there to entertain and dammit, Did he ever. The setlist was basically the same as the previous shows, no deviance at all. The sellout crowd in attendance were into this show from the dimming of the houselights that signaled the start of the show til the end of the show. And for once, the audience seemed to "love", I mean "LOVE" singing along with the songs (ie-"Landslide"...The crowd ate it up word-for-word.) whereas at other shows I've attended at the Ford Center the singing was a bit lower-keyed (Yes, Even at the Paul McCartney show!!!), But not tonite. Having 16th row (Dead center) seats made all the difference in the world! The highlights: "Eyes Of The World"-This new arrangement makes this "Mirage" classic a hard rocking song. The only funny thing is that a few fans seated near me seemed to have thought this was a new track from the "Say You Will" album. "Rhiannon"-The fans were singing along word-for-word and Stevie seemed very rocking as she sang and rocked out. I prefer this regular version over the piano intro version from the "Dance" tour. "Come"-Lindsey brought the house down with his physical showmanship on this song. He received a thunderous standing ovation afterwards. He reminded me of a "robot gone amuck". "Landslide"-WOW!!! I have never heard so many fans sing-a-long to one song in my life. Stevie seemed to be enjoying herself and decided to stand behind Lindsey during the guitar solo (It was funny because you could just barely see her). A classic performance of a classic song. "Gold Dust Woman"-Stevie was way into GDW tonite, She was living the song as she sang it...'Nuff said!!! "I'm So Afraid"-The return of Lindsey's "robot gone amuck" part 2!!! And ya know what? He didn't break a single string on ISA or even on "Come" as he has at previous shows!!! And I agree with 107.7 KRXO's after show broadcast , He "was a madman that stole the show & rocked"! Tusk-"Stevie & Lindsey do the hokey pokey"...Quite literally too! When Lindsey does his usual moving/charge towards Stevie's/John's side of the stage he first kinda rammed John from the rear and then started jumping up and down, Almost wanting to jump on John's back. Then he started his approach towards Stevie, Who was clearly motioning with her head "No". He started to circle her and she circled back at him and then they gabbed hands and did a kind of "Hokey pokey/square dance" thing that was classic & everyone in attendance could see how much fun those two were having, A classic moment!!! "World Turning"/Mick's Drum Solo-The fans were way into Mick's drum solo. And I have to admit I was too...Watching his facial expressions & "Bugged-eyed" looks was hilarious! After his solo when he introduced the band he introduces John McVie as "his partner in crime for many years", John raised five fingers to which Mick replied "Oh...Only 5 years?" which was greeted with a big jolly laugh by John. Overall, this was the best show I have seen at the Ford Center. The band was full of high energy for their first return to OKC after 20+ years...And they definitely delivered in my opinion. The fans in the MAJOR nose-bleed seats behind the stage (I say those fans were about 4-5 stories up!) were just as enthusiastic as the fans on the floor. I can safely guarantee that Fleetwood Mac won't wait another 20+ years to return to Oklahoma City!!! Brian j. ps-I also met up with several "Ledgies"-Livia, shackin' up (Gerald) & OKLandslide (Tammy). Can't wait til tomorrow to go through the experience of another Fleetwood Mac show (Dallas July 3rd)!!!

I just wanted to let all know I completely agree with Brian's review. I was on front row but stood the entire concert it was so awesome. I am a major Stevie fan as well as my daughter. I do agree that Lindsey was amazing last night. My 11 year old daughter and her friend got to play Lindsey's guitar. He was so amazing when he bent down and told them to play it. They are still on cloud nine about that. Stevie seemed to notice my daughter thru-out concert and made eye contact and smiled at her off and on the entire evening. Towards the end of concert she shook some fans hands and montioned for me to lift my daughter up (as she couldn't reach her) I lifted her up and she took her hand with both of her hands and patted it. My daughter was so thrilled. She had the time of her life as well as myself. Brian have a great time at the Dallas concert. I think we may attend another concert that is close to Oklahoma. Not sure at this time..........Today we are having Fleetwood Mac withdraws so bad hardly anyone is moving around this house.

Guys ~ This show was the time of my life. I haven't written a review yet but wanted to share my experience. I ended up front row center stage for the encore and Lindsey signed my ticket and after Goodbye Baby Stevie was walking away and I was crying and I yelled her name and she turned around and I said thank your for your music it saved my life. She walked towards my and took my hand and said I love you too. I am crying now. I can't explain how I feel. That was the best musical experience of my life. Fleetwood Mac truly adores performing and it shows. I will never forget that night. I have tickets to the Dallas show this evening. I just loved this band with all my wildheart. Love, Catherine
PS the guy next to me got Mick's two drumsticks!!!!

HELLUVA SHOW!!!!!
Brian was right on with his review....I had high expectations for this concert and they were exceeded! The crowd was so into this concert, I'm still hoarse. I was looking for you Brian, I went up to 2 guys in Section 5 row A and asked if one of them was Brian....notta....lol I was in Section 4 row E, right on the inside aisle, some guy from Section 2, last few rows was a dancing pheen, he came back my way and we shared the moment and did a little jig during GYOW...lol....I had so much fun. Lindsey was a madman....lol....he gave 150%....I even thought of you, wondergirl, when he was pawing that guitar....lol Have fun you guys!! |
