it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, it's one of her flow-of-mind songs, but her vocal on this song was one of the best vocals of her career and it should of made an album

The new version of Mirror Mirror has atmosphere and Stevie's vocal delivery is awesome. It would've been neat had the old version actually appeared on Rock a Little and been updated for Street Angel. I think this is one of her best songs of the era and the dust bin treatment it got is one of Stevie's many career misfires/inconsistencies (IMO of course).

I love the harmonizing with herself, the melodies and the general vocal acrobatics of this song. Also when she is singing Mirror Mirroorr it really sounds like she is talking to the mirror! The first time I heard this song I liked it because it was around the time I also heard the demos for Thousand Days and Smile At You!

Mike, did Sara Fleetwood mention whether or not Running Through the Garden was recorded for possible inclusion on Street Angel? I know there's been some speculation. If it was, I'd be thrilled if it surfaced some day.

Sara doesn't always answer all the questions in our conversations online, but she does have some great stories and information!

I specifically asked about "Running Through The Garden" and "I Call You Missing" being recorded with "Mirror, Mirror" and "Thousand Days" with CL-A as the producer (since all four songs were re-submitted for copyright in July 1992 as new recordings), but she didn't answer that part. She did say that their Street Angel version of "I Call You Missing" is incredible, though, but she didn't say the producer. But that was right when she was telling me that CL-A produced "Mirror, Mirror", so maybe we could infer that.

However, "I Call You Missing" was still on the "final" Street Angel track listing as late as March 1994, so I'm betting that Glyn Johns produced it, with Stevie & Thom Panunzio tweaking it. But maybe Chris did produce it, and "Running Through The Garden", too. Hopefully, we'll find out!

Off topic: Sara told me about a song of Stevie's called "Crooks Court", and she mentioned it in context with "Watch Chain" as two songs she wasn't crazy about. She seemed very surprised that the fans didn't have their hands on "Crooks Court", since we would probably love it! Ooh, I want this song!!! And the 1992 "I Call You Missing"!!!!!

Yes, someone else mentioned that song back in January. Nice to know there are still things left to uncover.

Thats interesting info from Sara, Mike. Thanks for telling us. I do like this version of MM and all the others. I love having different versions of other songs. The 'Crooks Court' song sounds interesting. I wonder what its about??

Me too, I would love to get the Street Angel version of "I Call You Missing" and "Running Through The Garden" as well. If the SA version of "Mirror Mirror" is this good, I can only imagine how great the other two would be!!
