Fleetwood Mac vs Oasis

They're 2 very different bands with different appeal. I don't particularly like Oasis but they’re popularity was undeniable, in the UK at least (I’m not sure how popular they were internationally). I’d say Fleetwood Mac have a more diverse, cross-generational appeal. I know people who have quite strong opinions towards Oasis (either love them or hate them) and they seemed to characterise a specific generation (90’s Britpop to be exact). I’d say most of the people I now like FM at least a little bit whether they realise it or not - I’ll quite often play a Mac song and be told ‘Oh I like this song, I never knew this was Fleetwood Mac’.

On another somewhat unrelated (but arguably related) note, Noel Gallagher’s new solo project is entitled ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’, the title of which was inspired by ‘Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac’. He was a fan of the Peter Green era of FM.
