I love the production on that song - espeiclaly the strings at the end. Unususual for Fleetwood Mac and they just work so, so well... "Don't you koowwww...."

I actually like Silver Girl! The song that gets on my nerves is Running Through the Garden!

I've been reading that several people seem to think this and I don't understand why. I love it, think it kicks ass and wish it had been done live more than just the very few times (maybe even just one?) on the tour. Oh well, the joys of differing opinions!

I like it too! Not my favorite but I don't think its terrible. My vote goes to Goodbye Baby. Stevies vocals are awful! The Tower was much superior. It's the only Stevie song on the album I skip.

I like Silver Girl too. I think it's got an especially pretty chorus.

"Silver Girl".
There are some nice lyrics, but the bad ones outweigh them...

You know, the version of "Silver Girl" that was heard in the Destiny Rules documentary wasn't too bad. What ended up on the album was yucky.

Voting for 'Silver Girl', but there is a fair old cornucopia of crud to choose from here. SYW is the only Mac album on which I prefer LB's songs to Stevie's. I love 'Illume' and 'TD', and a few flashes of 'SYW' and 'EFO', but that's about it. 'RTTG' feels a tad hysterical. 'Smile At You' is just a shadow of what that song could've been. A shame, really.

I don't despise Silver Girl as much as most. It a decent little ditty that I can listen to every once in a while, much better than the likes of "Jane"
But, it is the weakest composition of all Stevie's SYW tracks. |

I don't mind "Silver Girl". It's not my favorite, but I don't get the hate for it.
The hate for RTTG baffles me even more. It's a huge step down from the demo (Lindsey's vocal & the three-note thing on the guitar annoy me), but it's still my favorite track & never should have left the live set. - Jake

I voted Smile At You. It just pales in comparison to what could have been.
I actually like "Silver Girl", but alas.... ![]()

Really hate Silver Girl, hate Goodbye Baby almost as much. I love both RTTG and EFO, and think Thrown Down is terrific. I think it's best to look at SYW Smile At You as essentially a different song from the old demos - saves the trouble of complaining about changes when both recordings are, independently, very good songs. Illume does go on for far too long, but it's at least musically more interesting than usual.

i have to go with silver girl, although i regularly have to skip these other songs too:
Illume Smile At You Running Through the Garden and many times Goodbye Baby. The only Stevie song that i really really like on SYW is Destiny Rules (and that one could use non-nasal vocals, of course). i'd enjoy SYW as an album much more if most of Steve's SYW songs are replaced by some of her IYD songs. (which gives me hope that i might like next FM album if DS does end up co-producing it!) |

Illume. Everything else is pretty good.
People refuse to admit it, blaming the "lyrics" but I believe they just hate Silver Girl because Stevie said she wrote it about Sheryl Crow.
