When I asked what I was missing, I had no idea what Heartboy and then CaliforniaDream were talking about in this thread. There is a private area for moderators to discuss things and perhaps I should have asked my wtf question in there, rather than directly to the folks who I was confused by.

Once again I am amazed at how much importance is placed on this type of stuff.
