With Dave onboard, the whole way, right next to her, he will push her into the 21st century with diverse internet promotion ideas (as we know, he EMBRACES Twitter!), cool music videos, and he will provide an additional name that, along with her own, will create more interest, buzz and recognition, ala Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' "Raising Sand". And also, isn't it kind of like a Fleetwood Mac album anyways, since with them Stevie is also not solo and is collaborating, and i am sure all of the songs will not be duets.
Although I liked the thought of a Stevie & Dave album at first, the more I think about it, the less enthusiastic I get about it. If this was a conventional Stevie solo album (produced by Dave), I don't think we should automatically assume that Stevie's going to just go out and do radio shows and TV shows. I think Dave's involvement, especially since it seems likely that this album will be released on his label, would automatically guarantee that it will be promoted using the latest media innovations regardless of whether it is a Stevie or Stevie & Dave album. Another thing that concerns me is the fact that Dave is not really very much of a draw. Don't get me wrong- I loves me some Eurythmics. But admittedly the main draw, in fact, the ONLY draw for me is Annie. Dave is an okay guitarist. Dave is an okay producer. Dave is an okay songwriter, although I have to admit that I didn't like the last Eurythmics album or the newer songs written for the Best Of collection a few years ago. Dave is a terrible singer, and his vocal contributions on Eurythmics albums have been thankfully minimal. Dave just doesn't have a built-in fanbase like Stevie. It can be safely assumed that any excitement over this project would be due entirely to Stevie's involvement, not vice-versa.
