Hi y’all. Newbie here.
![]() I’ve been a huge Stevie/FM fan for years. I got into Stevie’s music after hearing ‘Leather and Lace’ on the radio – which I thought was such an AMAZING song. Since then, I was hooked and started buying and collecting. I’ve have seen Stevie more than a dozen times over the years. Most recently, the FM ‘Unleashed’ show in Montreal, the ‘Crystal Vision’ show at ‘Casino-Rama’ in Ontario (where Stevie tripped on stage - yikes), and the Tom Petty concert in Bristow, VA where Stevie was his guest. Anyways, I’ll let the rest of this questionnaire speak for me. Feel free to copy, paste, fill in your own answers. Thanks! Roland ----------------------------------------------------- 1. Name or username: Roland 2. Where you live: ‘I’m a nomad, I can’t bad about the way I am’ (in the past 4 years: Montreal, plus in Point Reyes, CA and Manassas, VA as a student intern for the National Park Service). 3. Ok, so what draws you to Stevie’s music? For me, there’s just no one like her. I like other types of music too (very different from Stevie; am a big Green Day fan), but no performer comes close in terms that I would want to travel far to see, get everything she’s ever recorded, plus spend more than I should on ebay. I find her music moving and inspiring. Also, her visual image is so unique and compatible with the fairytale, mystical quality of her music and lyrics. I love that quote from Danny Goldberg in ‘Enchanted’ where he says Stevie is truly what you imagine her to be. ![]() 4. Five favorite Stevie solos songs (not in any particular order): Nightbird If Anyone Falls Candlebright Planets of the Universe Leather and Lace 5. Five favorite Stevie songs with Fleetwood Mac (not in any particular order): Sara Sisters of the Moon Beautiful Child Illume Silver Springs 6. Favorite Stevie video: If Anyone Falls (very romantic) 7. Favorite FM video: Gypsy 8. Five least Favorite Stevie solo or Stevie with FM songs (not in any particular order): Running Through the Garden (bad lyrics and super cheesy 80’s sounding music. Hearing it, I’m reminded to mow my lawn) Street Angel (dreary, zombie sleep walking music expresses Stevie’s hazy klonopin state of mind at the time. Also, the profound statement she was intending to make about the plight of homeless people just doesn’t come across. Cry Wolf (she submitted some 50 sings for consideration for OSOTM. This yawner, not even written by her, is one of the best?! Gawd!) When I See You Again (how may different ways can you sing ‘baby’?!) 9. Favorite Stevie solo album: TISL (great songs and album art) 10. Favorite FM album: Tusk (Stevie’s best songs with FM) 11. Have you ever met Stevie? No, the closest I ever got was to shake her hand during the ‘Edge’ walk at her 2001 TISL show in Toronto. I was REALLY considering going to the ‘Barnes and Noble’ booking in NYC last year, but I found out about it at the last minute. If I had a week or 2 at least to plan…ugh!. I still kinda kick myself over this one: I mean how many times do chances like this come along. Hmm, I need to go to a Night of a 1000 Stevie’s; the real Stevie has often promised to show up in disguise. ![]() 12. Do you have any interesting collectibles? Yep, I got a bunch of stuff, but my most interesting are: a Wild Heart tour ring; one of those 3D Wild Heart cards; a OSOTM hologram; some signed CD’s off ebay (yep, real – I know her signature really well, I always feel sorry when I see people bid for obviously fake crap); an inscribed pic I got through Stevie’s old mail lady Ginny Kamano; the rare paperback bio; and believe it or not, a copy of ‘Sweet Poison’ (for those who don’t know, the autobio written by Cheryl Cusella, the infamous Stevie impersonator – mine is signed too! LOL). 13. Favorite Stevie album cover: TISL (beautiful colors, Stevie in full ‘regalia’, and gorgeous ocean background). 14. Least favorite Stevie album cover: Timespace (yawn). Ditto for Street Angel. I think it took the art directors like 10 seconds to come up with the concept for these. Completely forgettable. 15. Favorite FM album cover: Rumours (pretty iconic image by now) 16. Least favorite FM album cover: Behind the Mask (who the %#@$% are these people?!) 17. Five songs Stevie has never done on stage but should: Touched By An Angel Candlebright Love Is Trouble In Shangri-la Kind of Woman 18. Five songs in demo form that should be released officially: Mistaken Love Space Needle All the Beautiful Worlds My Heart (or whatever it’s really called. One that goes, ‘Shadows at the first sign of life…’) If You Were My Love 19. Five songs that need to come back to the setlist: Nightbird Leather and Lace Sisters of the Moon Frozen Love Garbo 20. Favorite and least favorite Stevie look: Love her Tusk look. Hate the OSOTM look (big white hair, quarterback shoulder pads, ugly hats, and not wearing her trademark platform boots made her look like she lost her mojo. Her crimped hair and weight gain weren’t flattering for the SA tour, but at least she had some nice outfits, not the boring basic black she’s almost always wearing now. Bring back the blue tablecloth cape! Last edited by greendaze5; 02-07-2010 at 10:43 AM.. Reason: typos |
