I used to play along with the Mirage album quite a bit many years ago on my Kurzweil. It was very easy to retune this monster within the pitch that the songs were recorded. I can still match the pitch on my SP88X, so no problem with the piano.
I still wonder to this day why the tape speed was slowed approximately 15c and mastered at that recorded speed. This isn't a simple retuning or playing the song in a different key. Someone was screwing with the speed control on the tape machine. The whole album is detuned to approximately this value. I don't play along with the album on the guitar for this reason. I could detune one of my guitars to do this, but then it wouldn't sound the same as the Turner. Would anyone care to further any other speculation on this? |
