Quote:
I don't think the reason people have criticized Carol's book is because it paints members in an unflattering light. I think the band members often paint themselves in unflattering lights and I don't care about that. As far as why she didn't cash in earlier, I think she tried, but didn't get any takers. That's one of my problems with her, is that when she first went public and tried to get attention for herself in the eighties, the story she told then does not match what she says in this book (except for the post-concert Elvis Costello incident with Lindsey in the car). At any rate, I don't think her main goal in the book finally being released was money. It was attention. If you couldn't tell she craves attention in the pages of the book itself, you could tell just by her appearance on that Discovery Health plastic surgery documentary, where she fingers pictures of her glory days with the band and talks about her lost beauty. She wants to be noticed. She wants to stand out. She wants to be cared about. Human desires, certainly, but they make one far from impartial. Michele |
