BYLINE: By Stephen Holden BODY: $29.95 Christine McVie's lovely folk-blues voice and mournfully knowing love songs have contributed mightily to the success of Fleetwood Mac over the years. And as a soloist, leading her own group, Miss McVie projects the amiability of an unflappable trouper who has seen it all and lived to tell the tale. The high point of this cassette is the amusing conceptual video clip for ''Love Will Show Us How'' that depicts a video shoot where everything goes wrong. But even after the roof falls in, the dauntlessly imperturbable singer comes up smiling. Miss McVie's live concert versions of songs from her recent solo album are very low-keyed and show a voice that's somewhat frayed but still captivating. The concert's high points are reprises of the Fleetwood Mac songs ''Don't Stop'' and ''World Turning'' (the latter featuring Mick Fleetwood as a guest percussionist) that have much stronger blues and rock underpinnings than their original studio renditions. |
